    Magic the Gathering
Hey guys and girls just got bored and messing with some decks for this fun card game and just curious if anyone else is into it as well. Iv played this game for a very long time and have had a lot of fun doing so. So to start us off just have the following questions.

How many of you play MTG?

1.) What style decks do you play?
2.) What color decks do you play?
3.) How long have been playing?
4.) What state do you live in?

    for me the answers are
1.) Everything but I prefer Control or Aggro
    2.) Primarily Blue
3.) I have been playing since Stasis was standard
    4.) Florida

Really no one has played this game. Share deck ideas or something if you have.

Me and my friends used to play all the time... I used to have a deck built for every color but my best was my blue. Everyone hated that deck with a passion, Only reason we stopped playing is all of our decks and cards got stollen from my friends place one night and everyone just gave up after that.... I havnt played in over 10 years at least

I remember one match started as a 4 way and after an hr was just me and my one friend with his green deck... Game basically became a standstil because he couldnt damage my life an l couldnt do enough damage to him to even make a dent in what he built up or could get every turn.

That sucks about the theft. Sorry to hear that. Those are the fun games when it's a good match and trying to figure out a way to get the win when it is a stalemate.

I love to play decks that agervated my opponents. I learned how to play using a deck called Turbo Stasis. It was a blue and white deck where the strategy was to play kismet and Stasis and make everyone draw a bunch of cards. Kismet makes everything your oponent play come into play tapped. Stasis makes all players skip their untap step. So basically your opponent draws cards and cannot use them. The way it wins is by decking your opponent.

Lol yup thats how my blue deck worked... Made them draw like crazy... Anything they played was either immediatly removed or tapped and the off chance they got to attack my enchanted walls of vapors were all like " hahahah you feel that mosquitoe just now "

But on a serious note my biddies green deck was rediculious... All he needed was like a decent 5 turns and the ass was pulling in a minimum 15 life a turn alot of times he got up to 30 like it was nothing

I have a mono white deck that very consistently pulls 15 - 30 life per turn and either doubles or sometimes triples life every couple of turns after turn 5 or 6 on top of preventing all incoming damage from the opponents. I love those decks as well because they really piss people off. The life gain is much easier in white. Green is good for mass amounts of creatures and big creatures as well.

I had a fun squirrel deck that would allow me to produce squirrel tokens exponentially. A friend of my counted turns versus the number of creatures I was producing and out of 10 games by turn 10 I had 1000 creatures in play 5 of those games. With coat of arms in the deck each of those 1/1 or 2/2 squirrels got +1/+1 for each other squirrel in play. Not only did it mass produce the squirrel tokens it made those tokens huge and very difficult to deal with.

1.) I have a variety, but most turn into tribal decks of one kind or another.
2.) I have at least one deck for each color and several combinations. But I'd have to say green is my favorite.
    3.) Since about 2013
    4.) Utah

Do you guys play commander? Or just standard?
Most of my decks are made more for fun than actually winning. Probably my favorite deck is my wolf/werewolf/elf commander deck. It's Innistrad red/green werewolf meets green/white Selesnya. Try to get lots of wolf tokens, then give them all a bunch of boosts and deathtouch.

Nice. I play a little of everything. I used to play in standard tournaments a lot. But the format started to go downhill and I stopped playing in tournaments right around innastrad. Now I only play in legacy or Modern. I have playsets of every card from Ravnica through Return to Mirrodin block. I also have a lot of older legacy cards and I just like to build decks to have fun and piss off my opponents.

I would have to say that was my favorite aspect, seeing just how clever you can make a deck then trying it and refining it

    1. Control or ramp normally
    2. Green and blue are probly fav
    3. I've been playing since 2003
    4. I currently live in Nevada

When I was young my older sister was dating a guy who had played magic basically since its release. When he left to the United States for university he gifted me his entire collection (worth A LOT of money because of how long he had played for and how many older cards he had). Great guy, got me into the game and every time i move to an area it always takes a little while...but I find someone who plays and will bust out the cards again.

I did not read through all the post that closely but I did not see any mention of Hearthstone. Blizzard produced a card game few years ago....free to play. Takes some time to get into at first because you have to play and get better cards but really a great game.

To put a correct date on when I started playing magic is was with the release of Exodus way back in 1998. The set was released on the day I played my first tournament. I came in first place with a white weenie life gain and damage prevention deck that used circle of protections, Warmth and mother of runes main deck. This was at a time that Sly decks were the most popular decks to play in tournament. Sly decks were nothing but mono red decks where the whole object was to kill your opponent with direct damage and fast creatures. You generally paid less cost for maximum damage. Sly decks primarily used cards like ball lightning, lightning bolt and shock. The big deal at the time was that the first set that color coded the rarity of the cards was released the same day and that was what you would win by winning the tournament. I have been playing the game on and off since then in tournaments.

Post some deck lists so we check out each others decks for some ideas to try or possibly even suggestions that you did not think about.

I have been playing off and on for 16 years. I generally preferred playing control or some combo.
Now a days, I just play EDH and have 2 5 color edh decks.

Nice. Did you play in tournaments or just for fun? What control or combo decks were you playing? What was your favorite combo? Has anyone seen the turn 0 kill god combo?

I quit playing standard a few times, the first time was before kamigawa block came out. the deck I played then was a red black control deck called machine head.
then Time spiral block brought me back with reprinting my favorite creatures-slivers. during that time I played the rack and then korlash control. I later quit during Lorwyn block and I played fairies. The combo decks I played were vintage and extended oriented. Turbo lands and Alluren tricks were in extended and I played the World Gorger Dragon infinite mana combo, which I did have a few games where I went off on turn 1.

    how that went was
gemstone mine, dark rit, entomb(putting the dragon in grave) animate dead the dragon(that's the combo) and then casting Ghitu fire as an instant or stroke of genius for about a billion.

the most fun i get out of magic these days is doing booster tournaments or 'booster drafts'. You guys familiar with the style of play? everyone has to pitch in a few bucks but its soooooooo fun because you get all the best parts of magic; opening new packs, building a deck from scratch, playing tournament style where you count wins while still having it be somewhat casual. Let me know if you guys have ever done a booster tourney.

if you can get like 6 friends together, split the cost of like 24 packs, get some pizza and beer........that is a great night. have to start early because the tourny will run a good while.

I love playing booster draft. Me and my husband go to every prerelease we can. I like prerelease 'cause you get to play all the new cards.

1.) What style decks do you play?
Mostly token decks. And my decks are known for being huge lol.
2.) What color decks do you play?
    I have a green/red/white wolf/werewolf deck, a green/white token deck, a white/green cat warrior deck, green/red/white commander deck, and a blue/black draw out deck.
3.) How long have been playing?
Ummm...since around Innistrad I think. Three years?
4.) What state do you live in?
Just moved from VA to NC.

I've never played standard, always legacy or commander. My friends and I used to play drunk Magic all the time. I would normally win because alcohol has almost no affect on my mental processing (don't ask me to do an obstacle course though lol). I had a coworker who had been playing Magic pretty much since it came out and he had at least 20 decks that functioned perfectly, I rarely ever beat him. My decks are a lot more polished now though. I'll have to pull them out tomorrow to post deck lists.
