Super Black Pastel

First time posting, but been lurking for a while. I wanted to show off what I picked up today.

A male super black pastel! This morph was on my wishlist despite the risk associated with the morph. He was almost culled because of the slight deformity( cleft lip) even though he was healthy. Luckily, the seller saved him and I was able to get him at a nice price. The pictures make him seem lighter, but he really does have nice black on him that I'm sure will really come out when he's older. :) Here is the full album: http://imgur.com/a/1Bson

is the cleft genetic? will he be a pet or do u have plans? i see in your sig that u are getting a Pumpkin Pied, maybe u could get a pied female for both your pied male and Super Black Pastel male. ;)

Thank you! I think the cleft lip gives him a bit of personality.:) Genetically, I think the offspring would carry those problems, but I am no expert on that matter as I just go by things I've read. For now, I have just an interest for breeding, but no plans. Although Panda pieds are on my wishlist!

Both Super Black Pastel and Super Cinnies are prone to duck billing, as well as spinal deformities.

Welcome to the club! Kinda cute with the perma-smirk. Personally I wouldn't breed him, but he'll make a great pet. Hope you enjoy him for a long time.

Ah yes, An Orange Dream combo was something I really wanted and was lucky enough to find this girl. http://imgur.com/a/xTf0o Just a really good combo and I love her eyes as well!

I wish my camera was a little better. I'm actually waiting on the latest nexus phone so I can take plenty of progress pictures of my lovelies. :)

I'm sad to say this little guy just passed away this afternoon. I felt like I failed him . I just called the vet this morning to make an appointment because he was losing weight from not eating. I thought I was doing everything right because of my other snakes but...I don't know.

Don't beat yourself up sometimes the deformities you see are only the tip of the iceberg and there might have been something else going on.

Wow, so sorry for the loss. You did do the best you could and sometimes that is not enough bc some things are just out of our control. None of us has the final say in situations of life and death. Consider getting another super black pastel when you can. Thanks for sharing.
