Ok, video is about the snake NOT my apt, so NO dirty floor or why you watching Jerry Springer wise cracks(lol)..!! I was told i have bro and sis NORMS from people on here but the bottoms are almost identical but on the guy snake has a little black on the bottom around the exit area, i'll show him if needed, ALRIGHT question, Doesn't white bottoms mean they are some kind of HET for a morph..??

    Hi,

I watched that and no there is nothing that would make me think het anything. The het pied markers people talk about are a lot more pronounced than that in length and, to be honest are not 100% reliable anyway.

Sometimes they show up in particular lines more than others but nobody can be 100% sure they indicate het pied - if they really were pied would be called co-dom not recessive.

another QUESTION, QUESTIONS GALORE, is PIED the only MORPH that has markers that people can see..?? it's always a pied someone talks about if/when i mention the bottoms being all white.. another one what are some other markers that can determine a morph.??

    5000 questions........ GO..

    1. couldn't ANYTHING be HET or is it just PIEDS, like you couldn't have a het Mojave or some other kind of morph.?? LMAO well maybe not 5000..

check the sticky threads in Is this A Morph/What Morph is it? Seriously, it's just basic genetics and it just explains all the terminology there....

You should just ignore the whole "marker" thing all together. It is never a give away. I have hets that do not have markers and I have non hets that do have "markers". Just because they have a certain pattern does not mean they are het for something.

Recessive genes are the only one that can have Hets. There are co-dominate genes, recessive, and dominate. A recessive gene only replicate themselves with the same recessive gene. For example: Het Pied x Het Pied = Visual Pieds

Or Pied x Pied = More awesome Pieds lol

So they will either have to be a visual of the recessive gene or a carrier of the gene to produce more visuals.

Try out this site and use the genetic wizard, it also has a nice section that explains genetics [emoji4] I hope all that stuff I said makes sense. I suck at explaining things sometimes

Het is short for heterozygous. That means that the paired alleles that make up a gene are different from each other. Homozygous means they are the same as each other. That's all that it means. Your snake looks normal. Whether or not it is heterozygous for a genetic mutation that affects the appearance is not possible to tell by just looking.

Still not seeing anything there other than a normal.
Some hets can show or represent that they carry a recessive gene BUT even a shown marker doesn't mean the gene is actually there.

Oh and to answer your first question we cannot tell you if your snake is carrying a gene or not unfortunately. Looks are deceiving when it comes to identifying Hets. Normals have a ton of variation so if something is abnormal looking with them they are still just normals but just more interesting ones :) I and many other members on this site can guarantee 100% that your snake is a normal [emoji4] and that's totally okay! We love normals here. We have an entire thread dedicated to showing love to normal ball pythons. Your girl has some really nice coloration and a very pretty pattern, she's a gorgeous normal. If you would really like to get some cool babies with her breed her to a male that has multiple co-dominate genes that replicate themselves when bred to normals or any other morph. Keep using that genetic wizard and find some co-dominate, or dominate genes you would like to replicate. Keep on reading, researching and learning. There's so many wonderful things to learn about our awesome bps. :)
