    Alduin's Corner.
So this will be a progression thread for my sterling Ball python, Alduin Jörmungandr.

Here are his stats so far.

    Name: Alduin Jörmungandr
Age: Roughly 2-3 months. Have to look back on my records. 😑
    Gender: male
    Weight: 158g
    Length: unknown for now
    Prey item: rat pups

He's calm down since first arriving at home a week ago. Allowed me to take him out to snuggle today. I fed him on Monday and he readily took his first meal since he got home with absolutely no problems! 😄

I had him out for a bit today and decided to take a few not very great pictures of him. He doesn't hiss or strike at me but he is deathly afraid of my camera. Lol

Trail of hearts. Love his patterns!

Thanks very much. Those pictures really don't do him any justice so I will be taking some tomorrow or so. Lol maybe I'll create a light box just for his pictures.

Anyway, I noticed he has a tiny dent in his eye. I don't really know how he got that since his humidity fluctuates between the 50-60s. Either way, I switched out his smaller water bowl to a larger one and saw the humidity rise to 66%. Hopefully this is OK. He isn't shedding yet but he might be soon, pink belly and all. I think this might be around the time he shed last time too...

First time with the light box method. I think it came out OK but I'll playing around with the lighting.

More pictures! Better lighting hopefully using my diy light box.

Just a bit of periscoping. He didn't do it for too long but it was cute to capture on camera. I think he was curious about the tv when he did this. 😍

Fed Alduin today and he took his f/t rat like nothing! His third feeding with me and I am glad he is doing great! His rats, however, smell really gross. Well maybe just gross to my standards. Lol also, I found that boxes make excellent temporary hides if your bp decided to paint his other one in poop. 💩

Like I can see them just not capture them. I may need to invest into a better camera this upcoming cyber monday. I was so glad he didn't flinch when I had my camera out (he usually does).

Alduin almost shed in one piece! It was just the very very tip of his tail that needed a tiny bit of a soak. But Woot!

Here is a Halloween photo of him.

    Re: Alduin's Corner.
    Thanks! Sorry I didn't respond earlier...I thought I did....

    Anyway, just a quick update:

So my apartment gets pretty chilly at night. I have the snakes in my room but the temps still dip at night and seemed to make Alduin rather uncomfortable. He would roam his home rather badly both day and night. Almost as if he was trying to escape. How did I remedy this? I bought a small room heater. Why did I do this? Well I don't like heating my whole place because of the electricity bills. I already pay waay too much in the summer which is pretty much most of the year here. Lol so I don't turn on my heater in the winter/fall.

So I bought a room heater and it gets my room toasty warm for my cold-blooded roommates. I cleaned out Alduin's tub and disinfected it with a vinegar wash. (I also think that his roaming was due to the fact that it smelled like snake and he was searching for a new 'hole'. Maybe?) But he seems to be OK now. His temps are correct and not going everywhere. He took his rat for the week after having it warmed up a second time.

The one thing that was odd was that he weighed 204g before he pooped. After he pooped, he weighed 194. Can there really be a 10g difference before and after evacuating their bowels. Obviously, I don't weigh poop but I may start doing that...💩

Also I might add that their excretions smell like death. Lol then again I don't think any living beings would smell like a basket of roses.

Alduin's been doing great! He's been coming out of his hide more though...but I think it may be because he is hungry. I was thinking of upping the prey size for him after a few more meals of the pups. Going to take his weight again after two days.

    Re: Alduin's Corner.
So Alduin finally pooped so I was able to weigh him. He now weighs 356g! Phew! He's pounding down weaned rats now like a champ. Still feeding him once every 5-7 days but I am glad he is growing at a good steady pace since I got him in Oct.

    http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/16/01...b4a3a91763.jpg

So now that I have established his new weight, I am thinking of upgrading his bin size. Along with some new bigger hides. He likes using the small ones as 'body hats'. Lol so my next paycheck and birthday gift cards will be going to my snakes this year. Moving my cornsnake into Alduins old bin and moving Alduin into a new one!

he looks great, also glad to hear Alduin is doing so well. :gj:

that looks like the small Reptile Basics hide. FYI the next size up, the medium is too bid IMO for a 300-400gram snake. here's the comparison:

    small
    http://www.reptilebasics.com/images/products/smhide.jpg

    vs.

    medium
    http://www.reptilebasics.com/images/products/mdhide.jpg

it's like 3-4 times the size. so what did i do?

i got these small hides from The Bean Farm taht i think are a good in-between size:
    http://beanfarm.com/images/hide-boxes.jpg

also these medium Exo-Terra cave hides fit perfect. u can get them on Amazon for the price of the basic, clack hides above.

just my thoughts and what i did. anyway keep up the good work with your beautiful boy. :)

@Reinz Thank you very much for the kind words! I love my growing handsome noodle.

@Ax01Thanks very much! Yeah I remember looking at the medium sized one and thinking that it was going too big. I did have a few plastic planter bottoms but they also looked either too small or too big. I'll look into the bean farm and amazon for the new upgrades! Thanks very much again for your suggestions! Very much appreciated! 😄

You guessed correctly. I named my sterling bp after the infamous World-Eater from my favorite game. As glitchy as it may be, I still continue to play it. Lol His full name is:

    Alduin Jörmungandr

    And thanks! [emoji13]

I love Skyrim so so much! Its my favorite game too XD I prefer Odahviing for my favorite dragon though. If I get a beardie, that's gonna be his name xD

I found this youtube channel with Fan-made Skyrim movies on - there's a three hour movie out about the Dragonborn that this guy made (well, 2 one hour 30 movies, the third part is going to be releaced sometime in the future). And it is amazing. The channel name is YongYea. You might like it

Also, Stormcloaks or Imperials? :P:P I'm a stormie myself xD

Hmm....to answer that would mean I would have to delve deeper into my character. For my bosmer, I'm a stormcloak. Why? Well she dislikes the way the Thalmor are running things. Including her homeland of Valenwood. My Bosmer is quite the rebel and warrior. Agile with both a bow and longsword. Lol I play as her more often than my others.

My Dunmer male is more the imperial. He dislikes the way he has been treated in Skyrim since he arrived after the red mountain eruption. As a man who's trying to get by and earn a living in the snowy lands, he strives for equality for his people who have absolutely nothing. He's not afraid to get his hands dirty so long as it's for the good of his people as well. A few extra septims are nice too though. He's mainly a great sword user.

My imperial female actually joined the stormcloaks in retaliation for nearly being executed. Lol

And my Nord male, of course, is fighting for his homeland.

My Khajit female is actually neutral since neither side seems like a benefit. However, she initially joined the stormcloaks only to steal the jagged crown for herself. Lol

After my first run through I decided to get more indepth with my character builds. Makes things a bit more interesting. Yep a bona fide nerd I am! I'll have to check up on that channel you mentioned! Sounds pretty neat! Almost like the live action of Dragon Age. Lol

I was gonna name my Cornsnake Solis after Odahviing but his name is more Metal Gear themed. Lol

Your Khajiit sounds like my character xD I literally go round stealing everything and anything. Three houses full of rubbish that I've just collected for no reason.
I'm a bow user through and through. I attempted to create a heavy armor Nord, using battle axes and warhammers but I always find myself switching back to the bow. I just love the stealthiness.

I have never played the Imperial questline though. I probably should, its just i hate them so much for no reason lol. Once ive picked a side, I would generally stick to it! My brother picked imperials, and I was like 'not talking to you ever again, traitor' :P

    Updated stats!

    Alduin jörmungandr
    Age: approx 8-9 months
    Weight: 490g empty on 2-28-2016
Length: he won't stay still..will try later. Lol
Prey: weanlings rats and small rats

Whoa! He's grown so much!! My little booplesnoot is not so little anymore. I am about to bump up his prey items to small rats. I also have his new permanent tub! Just have to get the new uth and accurite thermometer. Thinking of getting another herpstat but I might want to go for the herpstat 2. I was thinking of heating the cooler side of the larger tub with another uth.

My cornsnake will be moved to alduin's old tub and Alduin will be getting a nice upgrade! Everyone wins!

This is the ONLY decent picture of him since he sort of liked to move around too much. [emoji24] [emoji216]

    Re: Alduin's Corner.
Well I haven't updated this in awhile! Lol anyway, Alduin is doing great. He actually went off feed for a month until today! I admit I was worried until I weighed him last week.

Before he went off feed for the month, Alduin weighed 645 grams. When I weighed him last week he weighed in at 644g! To more experienced keepers, this might seem like nothing. To me, it was phenomenal! Snakes are such wonderful animals. Anyway, I was about to give in if he didn't eat this time. I was willing to go to the store and purchase a live rat to possibly jumpstart his feeding response. But, I am a little relieved that he took it today. Not saying I wouldn't have done what I said I would. Its just nice to not have to I guess.
