    Why Ball Pythons?
Just wondering what make all of you BP owners like them? their general calmness, their personalities, their looks? What is it about BPs that does it for you?

For me it has to be the looks, I dont find many other snakes visually appealing like I do BPs. I guess its that they just have that mean look!

For me it is all the different morphs! So many different pattern and color combos!

Also, I like the fact that they do not get HUGE! That way, I could have one in a small apartment like mine. Lol

I like how calm and docile they are as well as the fact that they do not get big enough to be unmanageable by one person. I also love the variety in the Morphs.

My reasons for choosing Balls are temperament, size, appearance, and the cute factor. Face it, Balls have the cutest faces of the snake world!

Husband wanted a Carpet Python first - I was not about the 12 ft of animal or the mean-mug. Ball Pythons have sweet-face, hella colors, stay small enough to not give me a panic attack but have enough bulk that they don't feel super fragile, and have chill. I've since come around on Carpets as well.

For me it's a combination of all of the above I guess. I didn't grow up around reptiles, so upon my introduction, their softer look and demeanor won me over fast, then I learned about all the cool morphs and just haven't looked back, they're just too cool. :taz:

Adorable faces, easy to clean up after (mostly), and super sweet personalities. :) My two baby girls are so interesting to watch, because they're both so different.

Temperament, the amazing morphs, they have the most adorable faces, they grow large but mot unmanageable, and how I find they're so curious! I make "playgrounds" for Noodles and she just climbs on and in everything I put out! This is usually followed by a cuddle session in which she falls asleep on me. :)

I didn't set out to get a BP, or any snake for that matter, yet the moment I laid eyes on my Seshat I was hopeless in love. They are beautiful, sweet creatures with the cutest face. Their curious nature makes them comical. Seshat likes to perk up like a gopher and watch me as fuss around the house. She also likes to "redecorate" her condo, flipping over her shoeboxes and flinging the lids.

Lastly, I respect the strength and power these animals have. During feeding time, Seshat becomes a viper and is not to be messed with.

I'm not into breeding like a lot of members on here, which seems to fuel some of the passion and drive to learn more about these animals and to spread the knowledge so. I only have one BP and will probably only have one. Though, the reason why I chose a BP among the other choices was that it had the physical characteristics of bigger constricting snakes without the commitment of one. I was very close to getting a colubrid but BP's are just easier (in my opinion) to take care of. For example, on average they seem to poop/pee less frequently than cornsnakes or kingsnakes and they're much more heavy bodied. For someone who works full time and can't have regular pets like a dog or a cat (a cat is probably doable but I'd still like to be able to spend more time than just an hour or 2 a night if I want to commit to one) BP's make the perfect pet for me with a good balance of work/pleasure from taking care of them.

I like the fact that my BP is so chill. I mainly have garters, and they're constantly going a hundred miles an hour, but when I just need to sit and not really concentrate my BP is perfect because she'll basically just wrap around my arm and hang out.

    :P

Anyway, I like their ease of handling, easygoing temperament + that there is such variety in pattern and color nowadays. And that ball pythons work really well as an "ambassador" for snakes overall, for others to understand that the majority of snakes really aren't vicious/aggressive animals that need to be feared. They also have adorable round puppy faces.

I saw them in the early 1990s, and loved the markings and the small, manageable size. I didn't own one till last year, and it's been fun watching him grow and settle in.

Got drawn back in after a long absence from the hobby and wanted a really cool looking snake that didn't get huge but was still impressive and had a good demeanor. I thinks balls are pretty much the perfect pet snakes.

They're so chill. I can sit, play video games and the snake just hangs with me. The faces are adorkable, and each has their own personalities that make them unique. I just love em.

I just got my first snake. I chose a ball python because they are a good choice for beginners. He is beautiful and is very relaxed and tolerant of handling. Plus today he spent a half hour laying on my stomach before he wanted to start exploring. Such cute faces, and I think they are the perfect snake to introduce to young people to educate.

    Why Ball Pythons?
I had no interest at all. Then my daughter moved away and I got stuck with Elvira, a full adult.

I had to take care of her. I was certainly uncomfortable handling her at first.

Then I got sucked in by her Beauty, Grace, and Tranquility. The lightbulb went on and I understood the fascination with snakes.

Now I have 4 more snakes, though none of those are BPs.

But Elvira was my gateway to these gorgeous creatures called snakes.

I always had an interest in snakes, I persuaded my boyfriend into liking the idea of a ball python. We did all kind's of research, the more I read about them, the more I loved them. Our first snake was a butter bee male and we instantly fell in love, and into an obsession haha. I just love their personalities, and their cute little faces! Also all the morph opportunities! I just love them :D

I have to back the other people who say it's the face. It's always the face.

    THAT ADORABLE FACE.

Seriously, it's why I absolutely love leopard geckos and bearded dragons too.
