    Mouse Eaten Backwards
I'm a little bit freaked out. I realized Orochimaru was going to eat the mouse tail first so I grabbed onto it with the tongs. He wouldn't let go and rewrapped it. I was hoping he would realize his mistake after the second wrap, but he didn't. He instead continued eating it while coiled. I tried tapping on him and tugging at the mouse to get him to stop.I was worried that I was making things worse. I grabbed the scissors and chopped offf a back foot and a front foot. I couldn't get to the other two. Should I be worried. Its a small mouse 10 grams, and heks 203 grams. I was going to give him a second mouse. Should I still?

Ginger used to do this - nothing to worry about. He'll realize as he gets older that head first is best.

It shouldn't be no problem at all. My snakes have eaten it backwards plenty of times

Corn snakes do this all time without issue. I wouldn't worry.

Okay, what a relief x.x. Thanks for replying so fast guys, I was panicking. I thought I read somewhere about a bp getting its intestines ripped from claws by eating prey backwards. Maybe it was a rat, not a mouse.

Neither. Where ever you heard that is pretty false. I've never heard of that ever happening with rats or mice.

My full size normal has taken medium rats backwards and has never had a problem as of yet. My P Het. Pied Female that I just bread for about a year only eat them backwards before realizing that they were going the wrong way. She has not had any problems at all and has yet to miss a meal other than when she was waiting to lay.

My Pewter eats most of her meals backwards. Actually why I named her Spork cause its not really a very effective fork or spoon (lousy eating utensil/snake that eats poorly) and silverware can be made from pewter.

It happens usually with young snakes still trying to figure it out, or larger animals fed a prey that is too small no biggy.

it seems like they struggle more when swallowing prey backwards. it's like against the grain or swimming upstream but it all works out fine with smaller prey.

here's my girl eating a fuzzy backwards.

my normal girl even swallowed a prey sideways when she was younger. :O  it took a long, long time tho and it looked very uncomfortable. i was so close to pulling the fuzzy prey out of her mouth.

    >.< Lol he seemed more annoyed with me than anything. After he was done he was staring at me and flicking his tongue like he was trying to figure out why I was trying to take his food. Then he ate the second one backwards also, just to spite me I think .
