i'm trying to get myself excited for the winter. :bored: anyone have any suggestions for fun winter activities? keep in mind there's no money for snowboarding or buying a snowmobile, otherwise that's what i'd be doing.

Winter fun? It was 65 degrees here on Wednesday, we played touch football at the park!

I just remembered a joke about people from Maine that I used to hear a lot living in Mass.

How many fingers do you have left? ... LOL ...

Fun winter activities? Playing football, hiking in the woods, roller skating, taking the dog to the park, baking, golf for those who like it, frisbee golf for the rest of us, horseback riding, driving around to look at extra tacky light displays ... I guess pretty much whatever a person likes to do! :)

All you southerner's :P Snowball fights, Snow forts, making snow angels...I haven't done that in a long time :P Ice Skating, Sledding. Hockey of any kind. I know of a couple places that offer big golfing deals in the wintertime. Oh yeah, Snow Scuplture, I've seen a giant chess set, a snow arch (built by the engineers at school, go figure). Horseback Ridding still counts, Sleigh rides (if you can find somebody who acutally does it).

Come on. all you need is a cheap plastic sled or an inner tube, snow, and a nice hill..sledding is so easy.

well it's nice to see that somebody gets where i'm coming from. trust me, if i could go mountain biking year round i would, but in maine that's just not an option.

Adam, that's great! i actually haven't heard that, but you heard it living in MA? there's not much difference, i'm in southern maine (portland) so it's about the same as boston.

Schlyne, got any ideas that i haven't done every year? i want to find something new that i can get excited about. maybe i'll put some racing slicks on my car  and start a new sport: "Extreme Driving, Maine Style"!! wonder what the Portland PD would think of that?

Wow, too bad the Portland ferry to NS doesn't run in the winter, otherwise I might see you pulling some crazy driving stunts while I wait around Portland!

As far as winter activities... uhh... I used to snowboard, but, well, even Gunstock is out of my price range. If you've ever heard of Ski Bradford down here in Mass, don't go. It's cheap, but I think my back yard is bigger ;) Last winter my friends screwed some skis to the legs of a wing back arm chair and I towed them around a frozen lake with a Ford Explorer at 35 mph. Now that was fun!! Stupid, but fun!

Sorry. If it makes you feel any better, it did rain a bit earlier this week. And I'm way too busy to go to the beach anyway.

My favorite winter activity: hanging out in an 85-degree building when there's a foot of snow on the ground...dinking around with my bloods & wishing like mad I was back in TEXAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am officially boycotting winter this year.

Hm, winter activities around here include listening to my boyfriend complain endlessly about plowing the driveway... taking an hour to get from our house to the road (our driveway is HELLACIOUS in the snow; let me get some pics this month and show you guys.)
This year should be interesting! A friend of ours is staying in the apartment above us on the weekends. He has a tiny honda civic, that's barely 5 inches off the ground. And we got stuck last year in the driveway with a dodge 4x4 with a lift-kit!! This guy is doomed; my winter entertainment will be watching him from my cozy living room window. That and snowmobiling; we just bought a '96 red Skidoo from a friend of ours and it rips!

That is what im talking about for winter fun, i have recently purchased a ATV(kawasaki prairie 650 with optional 4WD) and i have never had so much fun with it. I had it last winter and during the snow storms since no cars could even get on the roads me and a few friends were driving all around on the streets, its not like it mattered because no cops or anything would be able to catch us hehe. But ya i bought a plow for my quad last year and made 1200 in 4 hours with it. Thats will be my winter activities MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hehe
