I think it's the new kids' DVD "VeggieTales: The Cucumber, The Carrot, and the Cave of Mystery". Failing that, it's probably OctoDog, Hamster Clock, or at the very least Crazy Cat Lady Action Figure.

    I LOVE STUPID.COM!

Over here it's either Hot wheels "Slime-cano" or the "Terrain-Twister" ... or a Jesse James diablo custom (the kids got good taste).

    BLANKET ENTRY:

ANYTHING you see being demo'd in the middle of a shopping mall be it hovering mylar craft, loopy planes, twisty 'coppers, Dead Sea beauty products, etc etc. This stuff is only marginally better than the proverbial fondu pot and has a life expectancy of perhaps 20 minutes beyond initial examination/unwrapping.

(gods grant me levity this of all days :S)

Personally, I think THE must-have this Christmas is the plush giant microbes:

Why not give someone the plague this Christmas? Who says ebola can't be fun?

Alina, my mom has been at the CDC since 1976. My brother and I both worked there as students as well. Yours?

since... early 80's, not sure exactly when. she's in chicago now, she's moved all around the country. got any fun stories about growing up with it?

Well, I did have to learn that not everyone talks about things like disease symptoms and carriers over the supper table. :) And there was the time I was trying to go back to my office but accidentally went to a hepatitis lab instead ... oops! How about you? My mom is still based here in Atlanta, but spends very little time in her office as she works for DIH nowadays and spends most of her time out of the country for the last several years.

Cute parasite pals, Marla. You could just make it a "bug" infested Christmas.
  • 12-09-2004, 05:59 PM
i can definitely relate to the dinner table conversation :) i remember (though don't know why) having "female" condoms blown up as balloons around the house when they were introduced. do you know which culture it is that looks like chocolate pudding (and needs to be refrigerated)? i can't remember, but it's a good thing mom was paying attention, that's all i can say! she's got lots of friends at CDC in atlanta, your mom might know her... maybe

I already got my big gift a blood python with lots of frozen food and the enclosure etc. except for that I want World of Warcraft and a digital camera.

I live with my dad so we don't exactly get into the holiday spirit I wouldn't be surprise if he just gave me money lol.
