troubled, help with my AP T8 please
So I have a T8, I'm waiting on my BP to arrive but I didnt realize how deep the unit is. Its 2 feet deep. Having just moved i didnt have much furniture and didnt put the T8 together until last week.
I bought two storage/bookshelves from ikea and figured they would both work well for keeping my two snake cages on. Problem is they are only 16 inches deep. Which works fine for my corn's cage but obviously not the T8.

So im hopinh for suggestions for something to stand the T8 on, preferrably relatively inexpensive options.

Im also wondering how much space on the 2 sides and back i need to leave to allow proper ventilation through the vents

Hi, i bought these stands from ikea for about $50 bucks each. Not sure if they are still available but they worked out great for me.

Any chance you have their item # or brand?

Its the Lack TV unit #201.053.41

The T8 hangs out a bit in the back but it's no big deal.

When I had my T8s, I stacked them one on top of the other on this - Coaster Peel Black Computer Desk with Keyboard Tray. It matches them perfectly ( in both fit and color) and gets them off the floor, allowing for storage underneath and on the keyboard tray. I allowed for just a couple of inches behind them, as it was pushed up against a wall.

Hmm. Great suggestions. I got flexwatt from AP though and it hangs out the back just enough for the heat clips. but with a couple extra inches it droops down and im not sure how to keep it fastened to the cage bottom without a platform there

I taped the edges of the heat tape to the bottom using foil tape.

This probably goes against most people's ideas of proper decor, but I like cinderblocks and plywood for stands and shelving.
You can drape the stand over with a fabric skirt if those materials seem too tacky.

I only had the foil tape they sent, which was two strips that I put on the 2 longer sides, did you tape it more than that?

It's been awhile, but I believe I cut the tape they had sent lengthwise to make it more useful. Since then, I've purchased my own roll from Home Depot. It's amazing the many uses for the stuff that I've found.

I had also bought a roll before I moved but I didn't take it with me, what else have you used it for? And would you recommend taping all the edges of the heat tape?

I did three sides - the side furthest from the clips and the two sides. You just need enough to hold it in place for a little bit should you ever need to lift the T8 and move it for any reason. Once it's in place where you want it, it doesn't take much adhesive to do the job - the pressure from being sandwiched in does most of the work.

As far as other uses, I've done anything from using it for its intended purpose (other than in the snake room - actual A/C work) to a few other honey-do projects. My wife has also used it a couple of times for its "shiny-ness" in some random crafty things she does too. For as much as the roll was, we'd better be getting some good use out of it!

What about a distance from walls for proper ventilation?

In my first reply. ;) I had them against a wall, so maybe only a couple inches behind it at the most. I would think that you wouldn't need much more than that - just enough for a little bit of airflow.

Oh im sorry i missed that. So i found a perfect piece at ikea. Except it is a hideous white. Is it bad or dangerous to put the cage and heat tape on top of a cloth table cloth?

I also found another. Which is even more perfect but its made out of melamine foil which i am concerned about whether it would be dangerous sitting the heattape on it
