Just an albino? Or something more?
Ok guys, I was sure I had just a regular ol' albino bp, but now I'm not so sure. Could it be an albino super pastel?

I can't comment on whether he's just an albino or not, but out of curiosity- did you obtain him from a breeder or somewhere else?

Re: Just an albino? Or something more?
A friend found him in his garage one day. Checked the lost and found of Craigslist for 2 months with no bites, so I kept him. :)

O_O That is an insane way to find a ball python morph. I wish I can find ball pythons in my garage.

Jeez that's amazing. That probably means one of your neighbors is into BP morphs! They may even be a member here haha.
A few more photos will help us determine if it's just an albino or not.
Get photos of the whole body (top down and side profile).

At first glance it may also be black pastel. But more photos will help :gj:.

Hahaha, I know, right? It's kinda a long story, but the guy who found him lives in a different neighborhood, but knows I'm a huge animal/snake person and respond to animal calls at work all the time, so I got the call and saw this beauty and almost crapped my pants!! Couldn't believe he just showed up in a garage, it's like finding free money! :P But yeah, no missing snake fliers in his neighborhood, he's talked to neighbors with no success, nothing in the missing pets section on craigslist OR the paper, etc. So I decided to just keep him. Plus I'm wondering if maybe someone turned him loose because they got tired of him :( And I must confess, part of me is inclined to keep escaped snakes because it's one of my biggest pet peeves (irresponsible husbandry). Both my snakes I got as a result of calls to law enforcement and the inability to find the owner(s).
Anyway I'll try to post some better pictures. He is relaxing in his hollowed out branch right now. When he climbs out on his own I'll do a photo shoot. :)
Thanks everyone!

Looks very much like some black pastel albinos I've seen. I'd be furious if that snake went missing from my reptile room.

I'd agree this John here. On both parts. Glad the little one is in good hands now.

Re: Just an albino? Or something more?
Holy crap! Well he is certainly in great hands now. He's spoiled rotten and has a nice, big enclosure. Do you guys think I should do more to try to locate the original owner?? I really don't want to post a "Found Snake" thing on Craigslist and deal with all those idiots, but I feel bad if this guy is super valuable. Even though the original owner was irresponsible in housing him
What do y'all think I should do?

Not likely to make that differentiation without breeding.

I would personally but it's your call. The original owner isn't necessarily irresponsible. I've had someone come into my yard and tamper with enclosures. I imagine a person hired to do a job in house might do the same.

OK, I'll do it. How much is this type of snake worth?

I hear you there! I'd be one happy chick if a pretty lil albino bp like that strolled into my garage! :D

If he's actually a male albino black pastel at that size, then around $400 at the very least? People tend to value level of contrast in albinos and that differentiates the price between high-contrast albino black pastels or more faded albino black pastels like this one.
Yeah, I'd post a found ad on craigslist too... despite the annoying emails. You can also ask to send you their existing photos of this snake, to prove the real owner. I'm sure that will filter out most of the tricksters.

That's exactly what I did. Posted the ad last night, I'll see what turns up! Thanks for your help.

Haha trust me, I am down in the dumps just knowing I posted the ad on Craigslist!! I secretly hope nobody bites! :P BUT, I figure if I feel this attached to him after only a few months, I can only imagine how his original owner must feel. Plus, if I do end up reuniting them, I have room for another snakie-poo if I encounter another one at work! :)
Still, fingers crossed I get to keep him!

Just to update everyone, I posted an ad on craigslist about finding this beauty and never got any bites.
I've heard a few people toss around black pastel ball, is that the concensus? I am planning on keeping HER (as it turns out, haha).

Wow! What a find!! I'd say albino black pastel and a nice one.
I had a *tiny* crack in one of my tubs and my male pied got out. My roommate who lived in the basement (two floors away from the snake room and on the other corner of the house) called me at 3 am in a panic because he'd just woken up to pee and there was a snake on his floor. At first I said 'well it must be a wild one, one of MY snakes would never be in your room'. I went down to deal with it anyway and low and behold it was my pied boy!! So glad I didn't lose him!

Re: Just an albino? Or something more?
Well you can rest assured that you did the right thing O'Math! Nice to have a gift like that fall into your lap, haha. You must've been in line to get paid back for a good deed that you did. Congrats and that is what I saw too albino black pastel.

Re: Just an albino? Or something more?
Thank you!!! Yeah, I like to think so too... I do wildlife rescue and rehabilitation in our area and that's what led to the call. Yay karma! I'm so thankful!!

glad u posted a CL ad. however i woulda put up old school Lost/Found fliers in the neighborhood he was found. i'm sure that BP could not have traveled far and probably belonged to one of the neighbors. just keep the flier vague - Snake Found, please call, etc. and let the person who calls describe the snake to verify ownership. just my opinion and how i woulda handled it.
really nice Albino Black Pastel tho. glad u been able to keep it nice and happy.

how did i miss that post? so cool to find a nice snake in the garage... I wish i could find one ... a puzzle please or maybe a white wash.??? lol. I was more on the HRA albino side before reading the all post and the black pastel suggestion because the color is not as vibrant and clean as the black albi i saw. but i just saw one so.... i guess you guys are right.

I did have the guy who called me ask his neighbors, and it's been over a year now... But this is a great suggestion, you think I should try it anyway? I have a color printer and laminater, wouldn't be hard!

Re: Just an albino? Or something more?
I hate to say it but if was me that lost any animal I would be putting the posters up and posting on cl. If it's been a year and you have not heard anything I think it is now yours. 5 bucks a day housing it plus feeders, I think the guy would be better just letting u have it now.

Re: Just an albino? Or something more?
I'm inclined to agree with you... I want to do what's right by the snake, and ultimately, I can forgive a mishap where the owner allows it to escape due to poor husbandry. What I have a problem with is when the owner doesn't try at all to locate it once it's gone (aside from turning his house upside-down). Leads me to believe he either doesn't care enough and will just get another one, or God forbid he "set it free." If it was still within a few months I would post fliers, but it's been so long now I think it would just be even more of my resources wasted due to someone else's irresponsibility. You know? If I find another one I'll definitely post fliers in the neighborhood in addition to CL. Thanks so much to everyone for your input.

(keep in mind i'm the person who returned the nicest looking single-gene Clown ever after it was sent to me by mistake on my own time and dime.)
i find some peeps don't like to advertise the fact that they have snakes b/c of the "stigma" and putting up a signs would draw unwanted attention to them. now if there was an easy way to find the snake without getting the attention like if someone else put up the sign saying they found it, it might have been easier.
anyway i didn't realize u had the BP for a year at this point. if u feel u did you're due diligence, no one would hold it against ya. so it's up to u what u wanna do.
also i'm looking at the pix again. there might be something more to it than a Black Pastel (or Cinnamon) b/c of the long connecting alien heads. breed it to see if something else pops out. if there's Mojave in there, u got don't have a $500 BP; that's a 4-figure snake.

DANG. Well I don't breed snakes, I'm just curious about the breed... But if it's worth that much I feel like the person would/should have tried harder, regardless of whatever stigma they may get!! But that's just me. I dunno, I may still put out fliers. I have some free time coming up, so I'll think about it.
