OMG!! I think i am going to cry
So I have my 3 most anticipated clutches in the incubator. They are at days 38-40 and last night I had a power surge. I didn't think to check my racks/incubator until this afternoon and my incubator temp was 110*. Im sure it is unlikely any of them will hatch since the 3 eggs I cut were dead. Im just thankful my racks, that are on a different thermostat, are fine. What is the likely hood any of them survived?

I know this advice is like locking the barn door after the horses have fled but consider investing in back up t-stats for your racks and incubator. A backup would have cut power when it started spiking and can still protect your snakes or future clutches. I'm sorry this happened!

I will for sure be using either a dimmer or back up thermostat next season. I have had power outages before and everything was fine. I am using a vivarium v-200 and never had an issue. just hoping one survives, but I know it is unlikely.

    Don't give up hope hon.

I had a spike like this happen to me. The clutches did hatch, although some of the babies did have issues, some were fine. Lesson learned the hard way for both of us. But don't give up on them.

Thank you. Im really hoping for survivors. I just keep kicking myself for not checking after the power surge. I just assumed since every other time it was fine, it would be ok 😡 definitely next season I am putting a secondary temp control on the eggs

All of the eggs began to turn green. I opened them and we would have gotten 3 8balls, 4 Calicos and 2 caliders. The pastel clutch was still too small to tell. Just so heart broken by this. But I have learned my lesson

Poor lamb. My heart just breaks for you. Especially since I had almost the exact same thing happen to me. Mine was caused by buying a cheap thermostat that went crazy. I thought I was saving money and everything would be just fine. Instead, it cost me an untold amount of heartache and several deformed babies. I learned the hard way, some things, you just don't take shortcuts on.

Take time to grieve dear, it hurts to loose our pets and our hopes. But in time, I hope you'll be able to keep going. It was hard for me, but I'm so very glad I did.

Thank you so much for the kind words. I will just have to wait next season for more precious little ones 😊 I just keep thinking, if I only checked the thermostat after the surge they would be ok. Just so sad to lose 21 perfect babies

oh noes! i'm sorry they didn't work out. :( :grouphug:

just remember that they're in eggs and cannot regulate their own temps if it's too high or too low.

it's a hard lesson to learn, but i'm sure you'll probably pick up some more morphs this year and will create awesome babies next season. :)
