    Red pupils
    Hi all,
i am soon to be purchasing a BEL, although when I viewed her the eyes wasn't what I expected.
The iris is a blue/black (it's difficult to make out) and the pupil shines red. Has anyone come across this before and knows whether they'll change as she gets older?
    She is roughly 6wks old.
If anyone could shed some light I would be most grateful.

There are 2 kinds of bels... a blue eye lucistic witch has the blue eyes and black pupil and then the black eyed lucistic aka the super fire has the black eyes with the red pupil.

Why do they leave it open for confusion by calling them both BELs. ??

I've seen some people use BluEL and BlkEL to further clarify, but if they don't I would hope they'd at least share the "ingredients" - mojave x lesser, super fire, etc.

Not really any confusion, sellers don't just simply sell BELS

    People sell

    Super Mojave (Blue Eyed Lucy)
    Super Lesser (Blue Eyed Lucy)
Bel Lesser X Mojave (Blue Eyed Lucy)
    Super Fire (Black Eyed Lucy)

    etc

When you buy a BEL you will know what genetics you are getting.

Sorry I'm a bit new to this. It is meant to be a blue eyed. The parents were a majave and a lesser of 4 years old.

i couldn't see how to post a picture of the snake so put one on my profile instead if you'd like to have a look.

Hosting site like PhotoBucket to post photos or put them in your gallery.

Just saw the photo in your gallery.
That's def a BEL but my first thought was Cherry Bomb.
I would find an Albino to pair with when ready just to see.

Looks like a super fire or black eyed lucistic ... are you 100% on the genetics?

Difference is yours has the blue eyes the one in question has black eyes with the red pupil.... ive seen some blue eye lucy with a redish pupil before, kinda looks like the red is lightly glowing. but ive only ever seen them come from lesser x lesser pairings... seems this breeding season has created alot of odd babies in clutches they shouldnt have come from.

Interesting about the genetics. Mine is a mojave x mojave and has the red eyes. She's a year old. I guess I misunderstood the original post.

Here's a Blue Eyed Lucy we produced this year. Pairing was Lesser Pastel Spider x Lesser.

I dont get how thats a blue eye lucy when the eyes are all black and red. Yours was the first one i remember being what looks like a black eyed lucy from a clutch that couldnt possibly produce one, i for one would like to know how we now have 2 of these mysteries on the forum and both came from pairing completly lacking the fire gene witch correct me if im wrong is the only way to get a black eyed lucy is to make a super fire witch requires 2 parents carrying the fire gene.

I agree with you, M.P.C. That doesn't look like a Blue Eyed Leucy to me, either (no offense, Galaxygirl). Maybe it's the way the pic is taken?

My Super Lesser has baby blue eyes on the iris, but if a bright light hits the puple at an angle they look red.

All I have to say is snakes happen lol from what I have seen nothing is impossible with ball pythons look at all the new genes poping out and random traits but it's still in the realm of possibility that it's a blue eyed Lucy what if it has spider in it you never know until it has been bred

I posted it because it doesn't look like a Blue Eyed Lucy even though it is. It was the Dam's (a Lesser) first clutch and she was only bred to the Lesser Pastel Spider male.

I remember that one, i was talking on it also, i first pointed out that the parent must be carying the fire gene... looks like most agreed... blue eyed lucy have the blue eyes and depending on what was used to make them may have a red highlighted pupil but usually black.... but dark smoky eyes with a straight red pupil is super fire or black eyed lucy and 2 fire genes is the only way they are made
