My ball hasn't come out of her hide in over 2 days, should I be concerned?
I have a 6 month old ball python. I put this big tube, basically a huge paper towel roll, in her cage and as soon as i put it in she went in. That was almost three days ago. I've seen her poke her head out twice, but that was a couple days ago. I've lifted it up to check on her but she isn't moving. Should I be concerned? I would try to wake her up but I just got her and im trying to let her get accustomed to her new environment

Nothing to worry about they like to feel secure

It's never wrong to just touch them a couple times to see if they'll react or flinch. A couple seconds of interaction won't affect how they integrate. :P

Doesn't sound like anything's wrong. She's probably come out to get a drink or something at night when you weren't watching.

A hiding ball is a happy ball. These guys are ambush predators, if they're out moving around they're either hunting or they want to be elsewhere.

    ^ what he said.

also can you see their hides without opening the enclosure? my 2 babies at least stick their heads out of their hides at night, if they're not roaming, so I could at least check on them that way.

Well i put a camera in there last night and rewatched the footage and she never came out. I'm just worried that something will happen to her and I wont know cuz I'll assume she's sleeping

    Is she about to shed?

Once most of mine start heading into a shed cycle, they usually hole up in their hides and don't come out for anything until they shed. This becomes particularly pronounced when they turn blue.

Well i got her almost a week ago and I haven't seen her in like 4 days. And that was because I lifted the roll up that she was in and she slid out the other end. Oh yes one more question, when should I remove that big roll? She can curl up inside but it wont last her forever. I dont want her to get stuck but she will be really stressed if I take it out

Once again a hiding ball is a happy ball... If you have only had it for a week she is still trying to get settled in and unstressed from the move.. WhT do you men big roll??? Kinda confused about this like a paper towel roll????? If your husbandry all checks out then you have nothing to worry about

I tried one and it wouldn't let me. It was this big cardboard tube, basically an over sized paper towel roll, that the rug I bought from Walmart was wrapped around

I would work on getting some hides that are plastic or some water proof easy to clean hides the cardboard tube will become unsanitary. Can you describe the setup just to double check if it all pan out then you have no worries

The only reason I put it in its because she was stressed I need to get her two new identical hides. But I have a 55 gal tank with a screen on top and a wet towel to control the humidity. A heat light and a heat pad on the left side. Cypress mulch substrate. And a half log hide and a rock lookin hide

The hides don't need to be identical .just same size. The half logs are not the best but if the rock hide is a good size then just pick up another And pull the tube and halflog out. 55g is pretty big for a bp that size. It will hide more because that's how they would in the wild. The live in termite mounds and wait for food leaving under the cover of night. If you are going to use that tank clutter it up with fake plants and stuff to provide some cover while moving through the tank. Are you using a thermostat with the uth? What are the temps at

Im planning on picking up some clutter and hides with my next paycheck. But the rock is on the warm side and she has never been in it. I have a uth with thermo. Cool side is 74 am side is around 85. I can't seem to get the warm side to warm up to 90

As long as ur thermostat is set to give a 90 hotspot they will move substrate around to get farther down
