Where Do You Buy Your Racks?
The topic title says it all! After building my own racks for the last 3 years, I've been really thinking about taking the plunge and buying professional built ones to make my snake room look, well, more professional.

So, to the fellow snake addicts out there who purchase racks instead of building them, where do you purchase yours?

I've been looking a lot at the C-Serpent racks, http://cserpents.com/C_Serpents_Hot_...K_SYSTEMS.html. I think they look really nice.

But any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If you have the extra money, ARS or freedom breeder would be the way to go. If you're more on the conservative side, animal plastics is good as well.

All these companies mentioned make solid pvc racks. I personally just bought from Beeger Boxes. They seem to be one of the only companies that uses proportionally larger heat tape for their range of racks. IMO the standard 4" heat tape use is much too small once you get up into the larger tub sizes. Especially if your ambient room temps aren't at least in the upper 70s.

We ONLY use Cserpents here. Very high quality products. No problems with tubs sticking or heat tape coming undone. Chris has top notch customer service too!

Cserpents is top of the line imo. But you will pay more for shipping, and they are not as quick as Reptilebasics. Reptile basics has similar model racks as Cserpents but without the shipping charges. Reptilebasics is a almost overnight delivery also. Very fast! :gj:

RBI does have some great looking racks, and as stated, fast turn around. I just cant seem to get over their heat tape size. I might actually purchase my next rack from them and see if there is a major difference in ambient temps between the racks.

Additional votes for CSerpents and RBI. I've bought several from Chris at CSerpents and my Spider morph is from him too. If you can the best thing to do is attend a Repticon show he is attending and leaving with a rack right there. I know the guys at RBI as the warehouse is only an hour from me so if I have time I'll drive over to pick up my supplies direct. :) I also met a new builder recently to enter the market who's custom cage systems looked really nice so I'm thinking of picking up one in the fall/winter so I can display a few of my guys. They're called Serpentine Obsessions.

I met the CSerpent crew last October at the Tinley NARBC. I've already got my room booked for the October, and am planning on walking out with an Incubator. In my opinion C-Serpent racks, and incubators for that matter, just look sick! I really like the sleek black look, and they have got to me so much lighter than the ones I've made out of melamine...

I think that's what I'm going to go with.

The racks I have came from Animal Plastics, though I feel I would probably be equally as satisfied with Cserpents.

Just a tip, if you are wanting something from Tinley from Chris @ Cserpents, go ahead and shoot him an email and send him payment so that he for sure has room on his trailer :gj:

I have C-Serpents racks and I am lucky enough not to pay shipping since I pick them up at the local GA show.

4 inches wide heat tape is more than enough in the majority of cases that is if your snake room stays in the 70's. BP do not need a large hot spot not even in V70 racks, 4 inches heat tape has been the standard for breeders for decades and is proven to work.

I have 7 racks from C serpents and am very happy with them. I have also been able to avoid shipping, by meeting them at shows for pick-up.

I've got Animal Plastics, C Serpents, and RBI racks in my snake room. Of those three, I absolutely recommend the AP and CS products. Quality and customer service second to none. :gj:

The caveat here is that what works for breeders, in dedicated snake rooms, doesn't always work for the average individual keeping only a few animals.

RBI themselves state that the ambient room temps must be well into the 70s for 4" heat tape to suffice in a 41 qt tub. If your rack will be in a room at usual living temps ~68-71, you run the risk of the tape not providing correct ambient temps in the tubs, and might need to add supplemental heat to the rack.

Just wanted to throw this out there for those that might not have the means to maintain a dedicated reptile room, or live themselves at reptile appropriate temps.

Even though I advocate for Beeger Boxes, I have been waiting over a month for the unit to ship. I would LOVE to be able to use RBI racks, but my reptile room currently isn't temperature regulated enough to accommodate them.

If you have a room that you you use specifically for your reptiles, you can regulate it for about $150

For whatever it's worth, I have six RBI racks (four CB-70 and two sweaterboxes) that I keep in my apartment. I keep my apartment cool, usually 70F to 74F, with no additional heat and had no problems. I don't even keep the hotspot as high as most people with it usually in the 87F to 88F range.

Thats great to hear actually. I'm pretty sick of waiting on this rack.
