Thanks! She was my second favorite boa at the show, and she's already looking nice can't wait to see her with some size.
Here's some more pics as promised.

Nice choice Cloud, she's a real Beauty!

Thanks everyone it was a hard choice between her and a snow, but I think even if she doesn't prove out I made a good choice.

Re: Female sunglow poss het anery
So I got the info back on her, and she's a Kahl strain sunglow het anery type I, and was born June 3.
I weighed her when I got her home and she's 80 grams but looked like she was holding in a poo. I've seen her out since then and she looks thinner in the back so I'm gonna root around for it in a bit and try not to disturb her.

Nice snake,
And I really like how you have become tuned in with feeding. Cloud looks great and it's refreshing to see people who know when to slow down the food cycle for adult boas.
I can see you having an army of lean, in shape snakes.
They will live long lives by doing what you are doing.
Nice pickup.

Thanks! The breeder I got her from implemented a similar feeding schedule; he's been feeding her a properly-sized mouse every 10 days since birth, so she's being started out right, and is pure muscle! Currently, she's on small hopper mice every 10 days. They leave a small bulge, but not much of one and the bulge disappears after 24 hours. Once she's big enough for rat fuzzies I'll begin the switch over.
I was holding out on pictures in the hope that BP.net would start working on Tapatalk again since it's quicker and easier to upload photos, but it doesn't seem that's going to happen any time soon. So, here's some more photos now that she's settled in (it's actually a lot)! She's taken one meal successfully so far, and her next feeding day is in a few days. I waited a couple days after she came home to offer as she had a big back end, and she pooed from her most recent meal ~3-4 days ago. I gave her 5 days after bringing her home to start handling her, and I've been handling her very little (once 2 days after she ate, and that last time I handled her was Tuesday). If she takes her next meal as well as her first, after that I will probably begin handling her more regularly. So far she's been a doll and isn't defensive or touchy in the least. She's very tolerant to her head being touched, even more so than Cloud ever was.
Since Saturday or Sunday, she's been regularly coming out at night to explore, and really loves the vine I have in there for her, it's got a magnetic stem so it will stay in place. She's also begun to actually use her hot end since I bumped up the thermostat's setting a bit more, it just wasn't reaching through the plastic well enough. I have yet to see her use the humid hide, but in my experience snakes only use them when they're shedding so she may just not need it yet.
I think that about covers what I've noted about her during this time, she's definitely been a treat so far! It's soooo good to have another baby BCI. Now onto pictures!
A picture I missed from the day I got her, it's my favorite from that day.

I believe so, too! The breeder shared a picture of one of her half-siblings, and he held onto his colors really well! I know that doesn't necessarily mean she will, but she's already exceptional imo. I'm hoping she'll keep her patterns and colors nicely into adulthood.
She was going to be one of the breeder's hold backs, but apparently he got another boa for a project and needed to let go of his hold backs to make room for it. So I got lucky. haha

Nice sunglow! I picked up a hypo boa from the same breeder last year and have had no issues with him whatsoever. Congrats on your new acquisition.. I think you are right, she has a lot of contrast and color for a sunglow that young.
-
Re: Female sunglow poss het anery
I was thinking of getting the male snow from him, too, but I may find a different breeder for him so they aren't related. He was easy to work with and personable so I'm sure he'll get at least one more boa out of me. :P

Re: Female sunglow poss het anery
Well I measured her on SerpWidgets at 2' long, which means she's already grown 4"! I stretched her out and she definitely seems about 2', but I couldn't get her to flatten out against the wall completely. Unlike Cloud, she knows how to move on flat surfaces so she wouldn't sit still.
So guess my eyes weren't playing tricks on me.

Female sunglow poss het anery
She seems to be getting some extra padding, her muscles aren't as defined and she's getting a wide butt, so I think I'm going to start spreading her feedings out slightly to ~12 days rather than 10, may go every 14 if it's necessary. (May also stick to 10 days not 100% on that yet.)
She also is about ready to move up a size already. She's outgrown hopper mice but isn't quite large enough for small adults yet so I'll give her some more time before moving her up. She's not large enough to double up either, and I'd rather not feed her multiples anyway.
This is her empty, she's got a bit of splaying in the back like she's going to poop but it wasn't rounded or squishy on the bottom like it would be if she was holding onto poo. Roughly 11 days after eating iirc.

Re: Female sunglow poss het anery
She's probably not empty (she holds onto her poo for 2-3 feedings and lets out a big huge pile that would put my retic to shame proportionately) but I weighed her at 136 grams yesterday. She's maintaining a nice body tone, but has only shed once since I got her 5-6 months ago, so I'm thinking of upping her back to 7-10 days to see if she just needs to up her growth rate. :/
Still, I did have her eating 7-10 days for several months after her first shed with me, so surely she should have shed then, too? Especially after growing several inches. Maybe she'll shed and just suddenly explode by 6" like River? Idk. It's not bothering me too much because even when snakes grow a lot, they don't always shed reliably (cue River).
Anyways here's some recent photos.

Re: Female sunglow poss het anery
So this is how her last feeding went.
I took her out of her tub so I could replace her paper towels as she had taken a big dump, and placed her near her vine so she'd crawl off my hand since she wouldn't let go of my fingers.
She ended up sitting there with the mouse in her mouth not moving at all with big dilated pupils.
http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...a9abd02e04.jpg
http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...72da0aea87.jpg
When I went to put the lid back on her tub I heard a rapid "thwuck thwuck thwuck." I looked down to find she had struck at the air with the mouse still in her mouth and was now violently thrashing around trying to wrap around the mouse. >.>
She ended up succeeding but has further convinced me she's weird.

Amazing looking reptile CtB! Keep up the good work with her. :gj:

So I'm borrowing my mom's new Nikon D3200 until I get my Canon Rebel next month, and I got a few shots of Sanji and Nymeria last night.
Nymeria's colors are finally true to life, and you can actually see her pink sides for once!
Everyone ate today, so it will be a few days before I start taking any more photos.

http://i1157.photobucket.com/albums/...ps42f95r4s.jpg
http://i1157.photobucket.com/albums/...ps4wflh3oz.jpg

Well Nymeria still hasn't shed, despite continuing to grow. She has only shed once since I got her in July, despite having grown 6" in that time. Her first shed was when she grew 4" in 2 months, and she's grown another 2" since then, her last measurement being 26". She's also sitting at 154 grams, which is weight gain of right around 20 grams since January.
My rodent shipment should be arriving this Thursday, so I will be seeing if she's ready for small adult mice and even if she isn't, the bigger meal should spark a shed. If she's not ready, I'll move her back to hoppers for the time being, but hoppers are seeming kinda small lately. Going off weight, it will be a big meal, 8-11% of her weight since they're quoted as 13-18 grams on Big Cheese's website, but hopefully size wise it won't be too bad. They're mainly for Sanji, so it's not a big deal if she's isn't big enough for them yet.
Here she is coiling around a hopper. These photos aren't too good to show size, but the mouse is just a little smaller than her widest part. They've been leaving noticeable bulges up until end of December. The absolute biggest ones still leave bulges, but I don't have any big ones left, there's maybe 3 or 4 hoppers total now.
http://i1157.photobucket.com/albums/...psdivbszip.jpg
http://i1157.photobucket.com/albums/...psecumbkio.jpg
Trying to eat the hopper bent in half - it was too big and she failed.
http://i1157.photobucket.com/albums/...psyvi2nno4.jpg
Just a little fun belly/tail shot.
http://i1157.photobucket.com/albums/...ps2r7e1gly.jpg
Her scales are starting to look funny because she's holding onto her shed for so long. They look kinda old.
http://i1157.photobucket.com/albums/...psvj2gv8hw.jpg
Lately, she's been having a very subtle iridescence that is more noticeable than usual, so I've been hoping that means she's shedding, but it's been 4 or 5 days now and her eyes are still clear and her colors haven't changed.

I got some more definitive photos of her post-meal bulge, and seems she's the perfect size for adult mice! This mouse was one of the smallest from the bag, so her next feeding will be a bigger mouse from the main bag (I've separated all the 15 gram and under mice into a separate freezer bag to feed off first).

She still has not shed, this will be the 6th month since her last shed. I'm not sure what's going on, but I'll give her a few more of these larger meals and if she still doesn't shed I might need some input as to what's taking her so long. :/
-
Well, Nymeria's colors are so faded now that none of her photos turned out good today. :/ Her colors have gotten so pale her scales stand out more than her colors or patterns, but her belly and saddles aren't pinkish and her eyes are clear. *shrug*
She measured out at 27" in length and 174 grams today/last night.
Here's a photo showing her size.
http://i1157.photobucket.com/albums/...psh3yk5bax.jpg
-
Turns out Nymeria is actually a hair under 28", not a hair over 27", I let her out while I dampened her EcoEarth and she was stretched out completely so I took the chance to re-measure her. It was a lot easier to measure her when she wasn't crawling every which way.
She's also FINALLY in shed.

She's currently in Bud's old tub, and was being heated by the heat lamp I was using with him while I waited for the heat tape to arrive.
I've got the heat lamp on a thermostat, so I may just continue with it. I've been wanting to see if I get any difference in growth and digestion from ambient heat, and she won't be big enough for her own T12 for at least a year or two, so I may keep her in this set up for a few months and see if I notice any difference. Both her meals were eaten on heat tape, and took 3-4 days for the bulge to dissipate and I have yet to see any feces. Since she's getting ready shed, and I don't feed during sheds, this will give her time to defecate. Then we'll see if I notice more frequent poops, and if the bulge dissipates faster in this set up. I feel like she just had a hard time digesting on the heat tape despite an 80-85F room temp and 95F surface temp. She only pooped once every 2 months and it took 3 days for even a slight bulge to dissipate. I haven't noticed the same problems with Sanji, and I have yet to see how the new ones do on it, and River digested just fine on it as well.
-
-
She's so beautiful. Glad she's finally in the shed process. 6 months is forever!
