HELP...!!! My BP has escaped!
Hello everyone...
I think this is the most terrifying feeling any BP owner has..... I have a less than 1 year old Pastel BP named Pineapple. 2 nights ago for some reason I forgot to closed its cage over night and for my surprise the next morning he was gone. I keep my snakes in my room so I figure he will still be there somewhere but after 2 days of literally putting the entire room upside down I can not find him.
I even spread flour all over the floor and place a rat in the middle of the room overnight to see if he decides to come out of his "hide" and at least give me the peace of mind knowing hes alive somewhere in the room... but surprise surprise nothing happened....
I am panicking at this point. I honestly do not want to lose him. Hes a little guy lost in a big world and I do not think he will make it in one piece.
My guess is that he got out of the room which makes the hunt even more difficult. He can be anywhere in the apartment...
where?? is the million dollar question...
To make things worst, my sister owns 2 dogs! mmmmm I know this is not looking good... :(
I need some help with ideas of how to find him, where to look, what to do.....???
Any idea will help.
Hope to hear from you guys soon
and thank you in advance.....

Place a hide in a nice quiet corner, put the regulated heat mat under it and leave it over night. See if he turns up, at this stage he is probably cold, hence why he might be drawn to the heat.

We lose snakes in our store often when they are put in the back room because the tanks are less secure. It's a waiting game, yes. Look high, look low. Appliances, computers, and anything dark and WARM will be good spots. Look over everything 3 times then look again. If you look at it and say, 'Not possible' CHECK! These guys fit anywhere! Perhaps a pic of the room could help?

Oh and the dogs mean nothing lol. I have 5 and my snake has gone missing 3 times for LONG periods of time and was always found near dog areas unharmed

I am at work now but I am planning on going home early to keep the hunt going. I will take a few pictures of my room and post it to see if we can all together find this little Micheal Scofield (from Prison break) lol
thank you SCWood

Welcome! Keep in mind, they are really good at this ^^ my girl's recent escape had us all thinking she'd gotten outside. one month later we found her in our sink! She followed plumbing and exited where we were renovating lol

I just had a BP show up after having been missed for over 2 months.
I woke up the other day, and she was right there by the lamp. It looked like she was watching me sleep.

Re: HELP...!!! My BP has escaped!
The nature center where my wife works at times had a less than year old corn snake escape. They found him in a closet almost a year later. I guess now there a big rock on his cage
I bet the little found a nice dark hiding spot all ball up.
I would look very closely at any thing that provides heat ex tv computer appliance anything eltronic

If you've kept your room door consistently closed, the snake is probably still in your room somewhere. Once they escape, they tend to crawl along a wall or something and then stay put in the first dark, safe place they find. You're may have to end up dismantling some furniture to be 100% sure he's not inside it somewhere. Other places to check are under appliances (especially computers and refrigerators) that dump heat out the bottom.

Re: HELP...!!! My BP has escaped!
Try using one of the dogs. Just watch them smell around and look for them to get particular nosy around something. I've had multiple mice, one rat and one snake get loose and one of my dogs has always found them. Hell she found the snake before I even knew it got out

Re: HELP...!!! My BP has escaped!
Thank you everyone for the good tips. But after 3 hours of searching around the apartment. I literally put the whole place upside down...
I FOUND HIM!!! Yayayaya. So excited!
I had to pretty much strip the entire heat and vent system in one of the rooms to find the guy hiding in a little corner. It took me 1 hour to get him out of there. I almost had to take the wall down.

After a lot of work he finally gave up and let me took him out of there. Now he's taking a nice warm bath before he goes back to his cage.
My God I feel so much better now that I know he's safe, a little bit stressed out and scared but safe and alive.
I'm gonna leave him in his cage and not bother him for a few days until he gets back to normal.
While trying to get him out of the hole he scratched himself against the wall. No blood or flesh showing but i can see his scales got a bit of damage. I will have to monitor him closely to make sure it doesn't get worst or infected.
Thank you very much for all the replies. I feel so good to know there is a whole community out there looking out for BP keepers.
Thanks a lot!

Good job!
Glad he is OK.
The fiberglass there concerns me, but maybe someone more experienced can chime in about that.

Yes I was thinking the same. It's the kind of isolation material they used in this building. It's extremely itchy when you touch it with your hands.
I put him in warm water with a drop of dishwasher for about 40 min to, hopefully, help clean his skin. He seen pretty relax in the water.
One of my biggest concern is if he could get mites for being in that hole?
Any thoughts......

I wouldn't worry about that. If there were snake mites in that hole, they would have found your snake before it ever had escaped

Re: HELP...!!! My BP has escaped!
The mites our snakes get aren't indigenous you have nothing to worry about unless you have reptiles living in your Walls.
