So besides ball pythons what are your other favorite reptiles and why?

I love frogs, even though they don't fall under reptiles. :P
I love them so much I have a realistic tattoo of a bullfrog on my chest. In some cultures, frogs are symbols of good luck, they've been my favorite animal since I was a child and I would say I also believe them to be good luck.

Iguanas and lizards in the monitor family! They're like big, scaly puppies. smart as heck too, and very personable. They get attached to their people in a way snakes don't.

    Iguanan's.

But I wish you had broadened your question to amphibians too. I have owned many many frogs and salamanders, and I plan to get some more darts again.

Solomon Island Skink. What's better than a lizard with a prehensile tail?

Where to begin lol. Rats snakes (my first snake was a Texas rat) boas, corn snakes, Gaboon vipers, cal kings, and hog nose for snakes

then we can get into tegus, bearded dragons, a lot of the Australian monitors, blue tongues and sungazers.
for turtles I like easter painted, red eared sliders, and alligator snappers.

My reasoning behind all these are based on any combination of looks, temperament, and wow factor

Garters! Not only do they get more excited over their keepers than any other snake species I've ever seen, but they actually have a rudimentary social structure and thrive in communal housing, so they provide one of the only ways to safely observe snake social behavior you'll get in captivity.

Haha when I first saw this I read it as "GATORS."

I never thought of monitors as being personable. Which ones are the best known for this?

I wouldn't say monitors are personal as a catch all statement. Some monitors and tegus for that matter have been known to display "affection", they are extremely intelligent animals, however there are 2 trains of thought on care, some people believe in the puppy dog tame giant lizard that will be on your lap for hours at a time is normal and that they are tamed down, others will argue it is because their living conditions are not optimal and if kept at the correct basking temps, the correct diet, etc that they will not be these tame lap lizards, but you will end up with a healthy, interactive, extremely intelligent lizard. Research is your friend, however you have to start digging, you will find quickly that if you search "care sheets" the information is dated and incorrect...

I know that there is a basic monitor care sheet written by Chad Brown from when Pro Exotics was in its prime, pre fire. This guy knows his stuff 100%. It's at least 10 years old but it is spot on imo. It is written with black throat monitors in mind but can be used as a base for almost all monitors with minor changes.

I've always found tortoises to be adorable! And bearded dragons have great personalities. Hognoses and rattlesnakes also fascinate me.

We have had various Skinks, Anoles, Lizards in general but my favorite one so far is the Crested Gecko. I had to find new homes for the 2 we had but I kept my entire setup and I can't wait till we get into the new house this fall so I can set up the tank again then go hunting for 2 new ones.

Crested Geckos are cool. I'm afraid of it dropping its tail. I hear it's so common and I don't like the frog butt variety. I like tails on my lizards.

Well, I'm partial to my ultramel motley corn boy, but if we're excluding snakes altogether, I'd have to say Leachianus geckos. They look like big fat wrinkly potatoes and they make cute sounds!

I adore my crested geckos. They were my first ever lizard species! I own two of the little cuties now.
My male , Rex, is the most friendliest lizard i have met. He is a rescue, and came from a poor background (stuck with a teenage kid who smoked a lot, along with many other reptiles, birds and mammals), but when I first him, after my mum brought him home for a early xmas present, I bonded with him immediately. He now comes to the glass, and waits for me when I get home from school, so he can run up my arm and sit on my shoulder while I change his food and do my homework :3
He is so adorable. I was so lucky to get a tame gecko for my first lizard :D

All of them, But they require time to build trust. Not forced handling, Once you got their trust, they are absolutely amazing animals

Every reptile I've ever kept has brought me joy in their own way so I'm just going to list of some my current critters and why I dig them. Pits for their antics, especially during feeding or when one decides to throw a hissy fit. The garters are set up on my desk as I enjoy watching them cruise around, just doing their thing. Papuan python is my favorite large snake to hold and interact with outside - mine gets plenty of environmental enrichment for this very reason. Tegus because they're chill lizards and almost always amenable to positive interactions. Ball pythons to bring out the inner artist in me; the canvas of the reptile world with seemingly limitless color and pattern variations. Mountain tortoises because they are slow, even by tortoise standards, and very deliberate in their actions - I can simply sit and observe them for hours with their bobbing heads and pulsating throats. Box turtles, cute little tanks that they are, because watching them forage for food never gets old. Carpet pythons for their natural beauty, and because I needed a bit more arboreal in my life. Hognose snakes for their cuteness and that hilarious feeding response - watch out fingers! Black-headed pythons to keep me on my toes and because they are drop dead gorgeous.

Red Tail Boas and Carpet Pythons. They are definitely my favorite snakes I've ever owned. Don't tell my ball pythons, lol. :D

Antaresia, corn snakes, pituophis, carpet pythons, and my board constructors (I have bci, bcc, and bca)

These guys have a lot in common. Great feeding responses, fun to handle, they are active and inquisjtive.

I will always love my ball pythons, but they are becoming a smaller portion of my collection as my tastes become more diverse!

    Snakes: Boas and corns

Other reptiles: Ug this is hard. I love blue tegus. I also really like black throated monitors, I love their big dinosaur heads.

Now back to reptiles I might actually own someday, veiled chameleons. Everyone goes for the panthers but I just love the veils.

Lastly I really like red footed tortoises.

Honestly though I prefer just about any snake to any lizard. Snakes are by far my favorite.

I love Beardies, they're so calm and easier to handle than other big lizards. Iguanas are cool if you have the time, money, and space for one. I wish I could find someone to take my old girl, I just don't have the space for her or the amount of money. I got her as a child, so I didn't have the opportunity to do my research, and of course when I was young, I didn't want to give away my pet lizard. As she got older, it was harder and harder to meet demands, and no one around here does reptiles lol. But she is a good iguana, they make wonderful pets for someone with the right expertise, time, etc. I'd never recommend anyone get one otherwise though.
I also love leopard geckos, crested geckos, etc
