Are normals worth it?

There is this guy who is selling a proven female normal BP for $50. Pretty good price for a proven female, but are normals worth it, especially if you already have a couple? My normals are het for other recessives though, this female is not. He states that she just had her first clutch a few days ago and needs her gone ASAP to make room in his rack. I am tempted, kind of, only because she is a proven female but I am not that attracted to the fact that she is female. So is it worth it?

I've got a normal girl who just laid her first clutch for me and I don't plan on getting rid of her. I suppose a long as you have multi gene males to throw at her it could be worth it. Just depends on your collection and breeding plans.

I was recently given 10 proven breeder normal females. I could have tried to sell them and made some quick money, but I have a few 3 and 4 gene males that will make me more money in the long run. If you have the right male, and you have space, normals are definitely worth it.

I really only have a Kingpin male and a fire woma male that would make it worth it, but doesn't mean I wont get something different in the future. I definitely have the room and no current ideas of what to fill it with except a genetic stripe pair soon. I just do not want to jump to a decision. I feel in my gut that I am only buying her because I want to breed sooner rather then later and none of my current females will be ready this season... but I really really want to breed this season but I don't want to make a mistake in buying her and then not wanting her. That is not fair for the snake right? Basically I don't want to do this impulsively and have it be a huge mistake. She is a good looking female, and I am trying to convince myself that since she is experienced (she just had her second healthy clutch) and that she would be a good snake to start out on, but that makes me sound like I am using her as a guinea pig for my first year of trial and error doesn't it? I have to see if me wanting the snake is more important then just wanting to breed ASAP. I would love a kingpin female though so I really would like to breed her to my kingpin male anyway, if I were to get her. Sorry, thinking out loud.... kind of lol.

I don't mean to offend you at all, but if you're considering the fact that you may not want the snake because it doesn't have as much genetic potential as you'd like it to have, don't purchase the snake. These are living creatures and shouldn't have to deal with another rehoming because somebody doesn't think they're "worth it".

All snakes are equal ;)

Well all females have value, particularly those that are already up to breeding size. I have a big normal girl that was my first to lay. Are they the most genetically powerful? Obviously not. Do they still have a purpose in a breeding collection? Of course.

If your aiming for genetic power, you may look elsewhere. Proven pastels and spiders are pretty common, even if they cost more. However, for building a collection on budget this girl could go a long way. Ultimately it's up to you, though. If you don't think you'll love her, don't get her.

If you have the right males and have the room, yes they are valuable when it comes to your breeding stock.

It is not that I don't want her because she is a normal and has no other genetics, I already have normals in my collection so would it be worth it to add another? My normals are still babies though and wont be even close to breeding size till 2017.

I have decided to go ahead and buy her and will be picking her up on Tuesday.

No, apparently she just laid (a few days or so he said)... all word of mouth right, but he is pretty well known around here so I am not doubting him at all. The first clutch (5 good eggs 2 slug), I should ask him if he still has hold backs, but the second clutch are still eggs 5 good eggs. Apparently she is now eating like a horse and is at 1650g after laying her clutch. 4 years old so she is pretty young yet.

I would like too. Either to my king pin or if I get a genetic stipe I can make some hets for my own use.

Pastel
Bumble bee
Spinner
Spinber blast
Not bad combos out if a normal

Lots of variables, the biggest of which is what males you would breed to her in the future. From strictly a financial stand point, yes she is probably "worth it".

Nothing financial about it. With the collection I currently have there is no way I would make very much profit. At least not enough to quit my day job. More of a hobby and maybe a little bit of an addiction issue.
