    Built my rack.
I built a combination 32 quart and 16 quart rack. It has five shelves and I made it out of melamine board. I'm sure there are better materials but I did this on the cheap.

I'm waiting for the heat tape to arrive and then I will wire it up and tack a back onto it.

My only concern is that I didn't leave enough of a lip. It's about 1/4 inch. What do you think?http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/06...ee40b66128.jpg

    Built my rack.
I'm thinking if I can screw some type of cam that swings down it would not allow the snake to move the box and keep a curious cat out.

    Something like this in whitehttp://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/06...37e24396d6.jpg

Did you use anything to keep those tubs in place. I could see a strong snake being able to move the plastic enough to wedge its head. The sterilite tubs are pretty flexible.

I guess I could always use a 28 quart with the lid on it.

I think those clips should work. Use 3 per shelf for extra peace of mind

.25 Inch gap looks fine, mine are about a quarter inch too. As for the tubs sliding out I've never seen it happen but if you're worried about it one of those clips per tub should be fine.

16 quarts doesn't even fit they are a little too long.

I'm going to get the clips to be on the safe side. I didn't realize the tops of the tubs flared out like that. I guess you learn from your mistakes and when I make my 41 quart rack I am going to do things differently.

Fixed my security issue. Last thing I need is my snake getting out. http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/06...f96d901aa9.jpg

I've never used the clips, and I've never had one escape from the rack.

When building my racks, I use a 1/8 peice of peg board as the spacer and the tub, then screw the next shelf in. Then just repeat.

1/4" won't be a problem as long as your keeping sub adults or larger. Either way, nice looking rack! Its melamine right?

    Re: Built my rack.
Rack is made out of melamine the issue was that the top of the tub came flush with the top shelf. If the snake pushed on the side he could possibly wedge his head and move the tub allowing him to escape. That is why I added the clips so the snake can't move the side of the tub out.
