This is my 3 foot female. She is obviously not full grown, females get larger than that so of course she will get bigger, if she was a male she might stay at that size, who knows.

Here are some pics of Goblin. He is a pre-1999 male and is fully grown at about 4.5 feet. He is rather plump now, so I am feeding him only once every two weeks instead of once a week.

The first pic is me holding him. The second pic is him and my other 2 BPs for a size comparison. The other 2 are roughly 2 feet long, give or take. , and the third pic is him with an (empty) pop can for reference.

Thanks; he is a tad on the "overweight" size, I know. I reduced his feeding schedule a bit, but I am actually lucky he is not off feed yet...?

Do you feed him adult rats? when they are that big aren't you supposed to feed them ever other 2 to 3 weeks

Anyone who was cool enough to read this site's caresheet, written by none other then myself, would know that they're called royal pythons because of their latin name. python regius, regius translates to royal.

I'm not entirely sure which came first, but it's the best guess I've ever seen put out as far as an explanation of their name. Maybe they were called royal pythons before the latin name came along? Who knows. I found it one day when I was playing with a latin translator.

Wow, The Godfather. Haven't seen you in ages!
In my experience, I always thought that "royal python" was a more "literal" name, since it's translated directly from their Latin name. I figured that "ball" python was a "slang" term that was coined when someone noticed they coil into a ball as a defensive posture.

This female was about 5 years old when I got her - she's around 9 now.

There's 12" or so of snake behind my right hand in the photo, and I'm 5'4", for reference.

Yeah, I took a break from the webmaster thing. Too much put into it to be worth it.

I wish they were called royal pythons, it's a far cooler name. I'm too accustomed to ball python, I can't change :(

    Kara, thats a hot bp.

Wow that's one big ball. How long is she exactly? I take it it's rare that they get that big? I know of bp's lengths, but never seen one in pics like that. I wouldn't mind Pelota sprouting to that size in the future. :)
