Thanks for your support, everyone. After sucking out the venom, getting tetanus and rabies shots, having a blood transfusion, and reattaching the finger, I actually feel almost back to normal. But that's probably just the pain meds talking. :rofl:

I'm not sure how you'll get over that one... you're going to have to really focus on "jumping back on the horse", don't let yourself shy away! Not to mention the worry of infection, you'll have to really focus on keeping such a deep wound clean and freshly wrapped for sure.

It's true, he's very immature. I keep encouraging him to grow out of his childish behavior and act like a grown up if he wants to be paired next season. ;)

It was a defensive bite for sure - he's terrified of being handled and will almost always strike if he can see me. If he's in his hide and I lift it up and scoop him, no problem - but he was curled up next to it and had a clear line of sight. Calms down once picked up and gets all "who, me?" about it.
