Thanks everyone for the kind words! The pairing was Super mojave X Mojave.

A reminder to myself and a lesson for others: the smallest egg in the clutch looked terrible, moldy, smelled bad etc. When the clutch started pipping, I slit them to make a small window to peek inside. When I cut the smallest egg, I was very disappointed to find an undeveloped baby inside. I actually left that egg inside a separate container in the incubator to throw away later. Yesterday, as I was tidying up I was shocked to that the position of the egg had "moved" in the container and decided to open the entire egg. To my amazement, inside the egg were TWINS! The one on top (which was the one I saw when I slit the egg) was underdeveloped/deceased and underneath it, curled up in a small ball was a tiny fully developed super mojave! My jaw just dropped! I'll post pics when I get a chance

Wow,that was amazing! You're super blessed.
I have a question tho, at what day did you cut open the eggs? And after that how many days after did the hatchlings abandoned the eggs after absorbing all the yolk?thanks in advance and congrats on your hatchlings! :)

Re: 4 Lucy's (BEL) in the clutch! Great odds
Great question! I usually only cut the eggs after at least one egg has pipped in the clutch. However, every clutch varies because I may be busy or out of town so some clutches I don't slit at all and they hatch out naturally. I know some keepers cut on a specific day, but in my experience there may be "minor" development differences between clutches from genetics, incubation/temperature fluctuation, period of time before mom laid the eggs, etc. There isn't any harm in cutting them a bit early, it just means the babies just take longer to absorb the yolk and emerge from the eggs.

Thank you for your quick response. Two already pipped, I will cut the rest now. Wish me luck. :)

I went to a local store in FL yesterday (visiting family down here). They had this gorgeous girl, amongst many others. I fell in love and then was highly let down when they said she was fire their breeding program. http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/06...b552fc3654.jpghttp://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/06...0486fd2853.jpg

    Great looking BELS.
Thinking of getting one but had a question on BELS.
Is there a preferred line of BELS such as lesser or super Mojave and is there any to stay away from?
Also if you were to breed 2 BELS would you produce more BELS ?

I'm not an expert on the BEL genetics, so someone can correct me if I'm inaccurate. From what I know, all the lines of BEL (Mojave, Lesser, Butter, etc) are compatible. It's more personal preference and what fits into your projects, if you want pure white BEL then work with Lesser or Butter (some may have bug eyes), if you like the grey head and yellowish/off white BEL then super Mojaves are the way to go.

To answer your second question, yes if both parents are BELs then you would produce all BELs. Example: Super Mojave x Super Mojave= Super mojaves, or Super Lesser x Super Butter= Butter Lesser BELs

    Hope that information helps!
