    New Girl
Took in a two year old supposed 100% het pied girl today. She is pretty skinny at this point, and has gone through a couple owners who I don't think were completely up to speed on care for ball pythons. Regardless, wondering if anyone has some insight on removing stuck eye caps. She's heading into shed at the moment, so she'll be getting a few soaks and upped humidity in her tub, as well as a slither in a damp pillowcase. I'm not keen on screwing around with her eyes, so if no improvement after a shed, we will be headed to the vet. I'm fairly certain she is blind in her right eye. Also wondering if anyone here has had an enucleation done on their snake, as I'm concerned it may eventually cause her discomfort. Anyways, here is the mess of her poor eyeball. This was the picture originally sent to me. Will take some new ones, just don't want to harass the poor thing too much.

:( Poor baby... Some people just shouldn't have animals... :rage:. Get some foods in her ASAP. From what I can see she is very lovely, regardless of visual capabilities. I haven't had to deal with stuck eye caps as yet, but I am sure someone will be along to help! Just wanted to say I'm pulling for her :)

She's in deep blue right now, pair that with her bad eye and I don't think she's going to be too keen on eating. Last owners told me she was a picky eater (please show me a ball python that has never been picky), but I'd be curious to know how long her eye has been like that. Really no wonder to me if she's not eating if she's not feeling great!

Go to a staples or post office and pick up rubber finger tips.. Then put one on your finger hold the snake and gently rub over the eyes and the caps should come right off..maybe mist a little water on the eye before doing so if they are really stuck...works great for me...I have one ball python that thinks once she gets her bottom jaw off she is all done shedding..have to help her every time..lol

My ball python is not a picky eater but I've only had her a couple months (beginning of feb, so things may change). Sorry about the stuck shed tho hopefully she gets better

I concur with chaples84 on the finger cots from staples. What I would add is to use a couple of qtips first dipped in a dab of mineral oil and water to moisturize the eye cap first. Roll the moisturized qtips over the eye cap several times b4 using the rubber finger cot. Be gentle and good luck.

No real update as of yet. Hasn't shed. Was feeding day here yesterday and one of my other girls refused a meal, offered it to this girl. She's very interested, but didn't grab it. I would love to see everything come off in a nice shed, hopefully when I get home from work, but I am going to stop on my way home for one of those rubber fingers just in case. Will post some new pictures of her soon, with some fresh skin and hopefully a meal in her belly!!

    Update-

She shed this morning. Not all in one piece, but did not leave any shed behind. The eye looks beautiful. There is still a slight haze to it, but I was counting on her being blind on that eye because it looked so terrible. Didn't have a chance to grab pictures of her this morning before I left, but will post some in the next few hours. Really digging this girl's wonky patterns.

Here's to hoping she feels like pigging out when I get home too!

How's that for an improvement on her poor eyeball?! Much better. Still some cloudiness, but overall a pretty big improvement! Sorry for the poor quality pictures, this pal wouldn't stop moving.

Same! It's almost leopard like on the top half of her.
