With the way that picture is put together, I don't really know what that black thing next to him that's being used as a reference. And since I don't know what the black thing is, I can't really use it as a size comparison.

To me it kinda looks like the bottom half of a cake dish .
I shouldn't think feeding him mice would be a problem , as long as he's well fed - he doesn't appear skinny .

He doesn't seem underweight. And as others have posted before me, some BPs wont eat rats, i've had a few problematic feeders in our house before. Plus...if they guy does breed his own rodents as someone mentioned, then feednig multiple mice might be easier/cheaper for him.

I would definately try getting that guy on rats; they're so much more economical.
Ball pythons are such unreliable feeders. So if you can actually get him to eat, why feed him something small? If Goblin is only going to take one prey item for the next three months, I want it to be a big old rat, not a small mouse.
Except in hopeless cases, feeding live is completely inexcusable to me. My finger got bitten a few days ago by a hopper mouse and it is still bleeding off and on. Imagine that on your snake's inner mouth where you can't see... not a good prospect.
