    Video of Cleo biting me!
Mom always said it wasn't true. "My snake doesn't have that kind of feeding response..." Well, here it is! https://vimeo.com/126512187
Come to find out, the water that the mice were in had sat too long and grown cold. I didn't even check because I figured I hadn't been gone too long. My hand was sweating in those gloves and so she must've thought it was another mouse. Lucky me, I had just used sanitizer on my gloves so she let go immediately ;) really didn't hurt, I kinda yelled in surprise and she did snag a tooth so it stung a bit.

As soon as she looked past the rat towards you ~10 seconds I could tell it was coming. :lmao: Maybe next time don't have the feeder right in line with all those warm little fingers.

LMAO dually noted ;) she gave me that evil look but I was so focused on taping her, I didn't catch it until too late! She had just shed and left a massive poo so I was excited to feed her and she must've been hungry [emoji14]

Here is her second attempt. Again, I stupidly didn't check the mouse. After this, I hit it with a blow dryer for several minutes. https://instagram.com/p/2CFkKtgR9T/

That is one reason I tell people not to feed in seperate containers
it is an invitation to getting bitten. I usually try to feed when the snake is in a hide in its cage. Then I open the cover enough to put the mouse in with the tongs. I keep the cover between me and the snake, If you have a hide and the cover between you and the snake, then it is much harder to get tagged. I am actually thawing a mouseicle right now. Delphi is in her tank, in her hide. When I pull the lid off, she usually pokes her head out a little to see what is going on. She is a pretty calm snake, but once she smells mouse she will strike at anything the moves. So I will open the lid about one inch, and wave the mouse in front of the hide with the tongs. It will be gone fast. I will keep the lid between myself and Delphi. and I have the hide pointed so that I can angle the far side of the lid away from the side and put the tongs in as far as I can reach away from myself. Delphi would have to strike the whole length of the cage, through the hide, and through the lid to get me.

I don't go into Delphi's cage for any reason for at least a day after feeding, because she gets real wound up eating.

    Sincerely,

    David

I have to use bike gauntlets to open the rubs on feeding day.

It's like a room full of jack in the boxes with teeth. :(
