Burmese Python feeding?

Going to pick up an 11' female albino burm soon. I know adult boas only need to be fed a decent meal every month or so. But what about a Burmese this size? Is an appropriate sized rabbit monthly enough. Or do they need fed sooner than this. Trying to figure this out so I can order it's food along with my boa so I can save money on shipping. Thanks.

The fact that you're asking this makes me feel like you're not ready for a snake of this size. Perhaps you should consider doing more research, or start with a hatchling.

Ask the current owner what she's eating and how often.

I didn't know wanting to make sure I was feeding it correctly meant I was totally incapable of caring for it. The current owner is feeding 1-2 3xxxl rats weekly

Ok that makes it easier. The jumbo retired breeder female rats I get from my local supplier weigh 14-16 oz, I can't imagine those 3XXXLg rats would be much smaller. So, you're looking at a one pound rabbit every 7-10 days or a two pound rabbit every 10-14 days.

I would dare to say that the fact that the OP is taking time to ask the opinions of other experienced individuals, rather than just guessing indicates that he cares, and is going through the right motions to provide proper husbandry for the animal.

To the OP..Thank you for being a responsible large python owner and seeking guidance rather than winging it. Large snakes can absolutely be a handful and you must make sure that you understand their care. Too many times do people go blindly into this.

I'm sorry if that sounded rude. I apologize too. I just didn't think being cautious on what to feed it, meant I couldn't care for it. It's ok I understand. A lot of people get large pythons and can't care for them properly (my dad in the early 90's lol).

Nice to see another Ohioan. My nine year old Burm is around 10 or 11' and eating 3.5 - 4lb bunny on a weekly basis. One thing I would be weary about is buying an adult, especially if its your first large constrictor. But I also know that not too many people are breeding Burms in Ohio.

My burm is about that size, I usually do 3-4lb rabbit every 14 days. He has on occasion taken 6-8lb rabbits, depends on what the store has in stock. Big rabbits I normally only do no less then 3 weeks. I am definately not an expert, just what works for us.

I'm pretty sure that burms are pythons not boas so are you sure you know what you are getting your self in to ???

i do the same with my 12ft girl. she gets about a 4lb rabbit every 14 days and my 7-8ft male gets about a 3lb rabbit every 14 days. both are fine with it.

My 11 foot retic I feed a 1.5 - 2.5 lbs rabbit every 7 days and she's fine. My burm is only 6ish foot right now so her feeding schedule isn't applicable in the situation that's why I mentioned my retic.
