What about a heating pad, i didnt see that in your list. Heating pads are a musthave in my opinion, thats all i use to heat my cages.Works for me.

you should get an accurite for measuring temps and humidity if you don't already plan on getting one. saran wrap or contact paper to cover the top if you are using a screen one. what about lid clamps or something to keep the lid secure? and maybe a tank background or something similar too.

Oh, I forgot to mention, I have a rainforest background. I think I am getting a heating pad instead, because I dont think I can stand having 2 redbulbs on at night in my room.

mlededee, I have a t-rex humidity gauge, and a ESU reptile digi thermometer. It is a sliding lid, so you cant really clamp down, so I am going to put books on it. And it has a little lock at the end, but im afraid that wont do it, so I am getting books.

    So far I have:
    rainforest backgroud
    hides
    branch
    fake leaves
    tank

    What I am getting:
    Heating pad
    water bowl
    indoor/outdoor carpet

Oh, and I always put suran wrap on all my tanks for humidity.

It's probably safe enough if it doesn't have toxic fumes and dried fully, but it will definitely make cleaning more difficult.

its from a hot glue gun. so there isn't any smell or anything, and it dried automatically. I was recommended to do this with my leopard geckos hides, so I figured it would be OK to do it with a BP.

I just need the snake and the water bowl, it turns out he didn't get the money yet, so it will probably be wednessday when i get him.

Heat lamp + aquarium setup = dehydration. Just stick with the heat pad, or if you must use that heat lamp, make sure that your top keeps humidity in i.e. not screen, or if it is screen cover it with something like plexiglass.

    Eating and Playing
I used an aquarium and a heat lamp for my female bp who is not 11 months old and over 3 ft long. Its just more of a pain to keep humidity in the tank, i fixed that by covering the screen lid with plastic.

And my .02 on heat pads: They don't raise the air temp in the cage. Thats bad if your house gets cold in the wintertime, as in 70 or below. Sure, a floor temp of 93 is good but not when the air temp on the cool side is 68 degrees or so. Your snake is gonna slow down a lot under these conditions. Secondly, heat pads are notorious for generating hot spots on the pad. It may not be enough to burn the snake, but more than enough to cook urates and stools before they are passed, while still inside the digestive tract. A young BP was brought into the shop I work at. It was not eating and its tail what completely limp. It had some urates impacted on the latter part of its digestive tract. We basically squeezed the urates out, and they were hard as rocks. What do you know, they used nothing but a Zoomed heat pad to heat the tank. I've just seen too many malfunction to recommend using one as a sole heat source. They're good for supplemental heating but thats as far as I'd go with it.
