Re: Why wasn't I warned?
I picked up a young one on Friday and she (I think that it is a she but haven't had the sexing done yet) is gorgeous. Still hiding and getting settled into her new quarters but she was out exploring when I first got her home so I snapped a couple of pics. Now she sticks her head out of her hide to see what I'm doing in her enclosure (always seems like something needs to be done). My little one is quite light coloured for about 2/3rds of her body but she is a beauty.

Congrats on such a good looking little girl!
Yes, Boas are just incredibly awesome. :)

Cutie. Don't worry, the addiction will slow down a bit once you have covered every wall in your living space from floor to ceiling in cages and racks, and every piece of furniture you don't sit on is also a cage, and all your freezers contain more frozen rodents than people food. If you start considering getting rid of your bedframe and box spring and putting the mattress on top of a cage you may have an issue then.
-
For most the addiction ends when a significant other says "STOP!" So the boa addiction ends and the retic infatuation begins!

Don't laugh, I saw a picture of a bedroom where the bed had been lifted high enough so that 6' wide x 30" deep x 18" tall enclosures could be slid underneath, one on each side.

Enjoy the one you have and give it ALL the opportunities it deserves. If you like display type caging, I recommend a taller cage, with perches and other climbing options, although don't sacrifice floor space for ceiling space. Boa Constrictors display a wide range of behaviors, and the will exhibit them in caging that allows them to.
CA localities are often even more arboreal than the mainland BC's. My male is fairly active and climbs a lot especially when the summer months get into full swing.
Have fun, the 3rd picture down is really nice!

LOL! Not quite that bad yet. Well except the part about the frozen rodents. The snakes have taken over my guest room though and my bedroom which is what I use for quarantine lol.

Hubby doesn't tell me to stop. He doesn't care what I get as long as we can afford to feed it. I don't see me getting retics though. I love them but have no room for them.

Thanks! She's in a 20L tank in my quarantine room. She does like to climb. I sat and watched her for about an hour the other night just checking things out.

I wonder how many people read the subject and came here ready to rip into the OP for not reading about how big a boa constrictor could get. Lol nice little boa.

LOL. Nope I always do my research. ;)

Hilarious! I was just planning a enclosure for that unused under bed area. It is a perfect size, but I have carpet and cleaning may be too hard.

They've already been done! But for storage, not so you can slide a reptile enclosure under there.
-
That is a good idea though for those monster snakes. :)

Some thing about sleeping on a 20foot anaconda might keep my girl friend up at night!

Oh no, that stack is in the living room. I wasn't about to try moving 96" enclosures up the stairs.

That's a lovely little rodent killer. Take good care of her and enjoy! Hog island boa's just have that sophisticated look about them. :gj:
