Demigod
This is a male eastern garter born on July 13, 2013. An e-friend of mine offered to give him to me around the time I got Draco (and in fact is the reason why I got Draco - I got interested in keeping garters when she offered him to me) in 2013. I asked her to grow him up for me until he was big enough to handle whole pinkies, though, as after caring for Draco for a bit I found baby garters are just too tiny for me. Unfortunately, she was not able to ship him to me last summer before the weather turned cold, so I had to wait until the weather warmed up this spring. He arrived yesterday (on April 9), nice and healthy and active. He's quite a bit smaller than Draco, and the day old pinkies I have still leave a large bulge, but he's very perky and inquisitive like Draco was when I kept him on paper towels (now he mostly hides away, but still comes out every once in awhile to explore and climb his plants and even still chases my fingers - he's just not out quite as often). He's been pretty much non-stop exploring since he arrived yesterday at 11 am, I even went ahead and tried to feed him after he'd been here for almost 8-9 hours. He took the pink with no hesitation and gulped it down, and is still zooming around. In a few days when the bulge goes down and he defecates, I'll get a weight on him.
He also apparently recently picked up a habit of biting according to his previous owner, and getting the hand pics I did get gnawed on a little, but the tiny thing didn't even scratch my skin and gave up after a few tries.

Awesome little guy. Do captive garters smell as bad as wild ones when you pick them up?

Re: Demigod
If they musk you yeah they smell pretty bad. Draco's musk didn't smell at all as a baby but now that he's older it isn't pleasant.

Demigod
Well Demigod just shed yesterday. That makes 4 out of 6 snakes that have shed in the past 3 weeks. Maybe there will be pics tomorrow of his fresh new skin.

Re: Demigod
Well Demigod has been taking 2 pinks a week well, and he's gained a gram in weight, so he now weighs 20 grams.
Here are some recent photos of him, he's so much easier to handle than Draco.

Those are nice shots of him.
Glad he's coming along well.
After a thunderstorm last night, a beautiful Garter about the size of Demigod was in my garage.
Where yours has green colors on each side of the spine, this one had red and pink. The first one like this I have seen. They are usually silver in color when I see them in the yard or flower bed.
When I approached, he went into a defensive pose, almost Rattlesnake-esque. I moved away to go get my phone for a picture and he slithered away. In my garage that means disappearing into a black hole.

Demigod
Demigod weighed in at 23 grams today. He's been really enjoying the new plants I got a few weeks ago.
Yesterday we ordered some pizza and I'd set the receipt on his tank and when I lifted it I saw him reaching toward it. I pointed at him and told him he wasn't getting any more food because he ate 2 days ago....The movement of my finger got him excited and climbed his plants as quickly as possible and ended up bouncing off the screen....
I'm telling you, his feeding response is even more intense than my retic's.

As of his last weight, Demigod is 27 grams! I ran out of mouse pinks a few weeks ago, and he's been getting worms to hold him over until my next shipment arrives. Unfortunately, I don't think worms are going to be a good long-term feeding plan because they ended up freezing in my fridge and dying despite me setting it to the lowest setting. We've been having a lot of trouble with things randomly freezing in the fridge lately, even though we're making sure the doors are completely sealed.
I scared him getting him out to feed him his worms. lol He was striking at me and puffing up, the whole deal. He immediately deflated and calmed down the minute I set the first worm in front of him.

I tried offering him a second worm. He ate it, almost got it down, but he ended up spitting it back out. So it seems one whole worm is his limit, maybe 1.5 worms.

Looks like Demigod is going into shed! That makes 7 shedders in a row and one maybe. So far, 3 snakes have shed so currently 4 left to shed and one maybe (which I'll have to check on today or over the next few days to confirm).

I can't believe how much Demigod has grown! As of his last weight, he was 35 grams. :) He's still a string bean so he's putting on size, not just weight.
Nothing much to update on Demigod. Things get kinda boring on the update front when snakes become adults. haha He's still his usual food-oriented self. Striking at me through the glass, jumping around, doing laps around his tank in excitement whenever I come in the room. I'm feeding him as much as he'll eat, and he acts like he's going to starve any minute. He can't get a mouse fuzzy or a rat pink down, and he can't fit a third mouse pink in his belly, so he gets 2 mouse pinks a week. I don't understand it. lol

Demigod now weighs a whopping 45 grams, and is still significantly smaller than Draco. Demigod has also become chunky, so he's being put on 2 mouse pinks every 10-12 days and 1-2 earthworms every 2-3 days.
About a month ago he refused his first meal of the season, which he's done every year I've had him. He usually eats the next meal, but all I had at the time were mouse fuzzies. He tried his hardest to eat it, but either the fuzzies are still too big or the fur freaks him out because he never ate it. Today he ate 2 worms and I found a single mouse pinky so he'll get that next. I want to buy everyone's food at one time, but my main bulk websites are out of the size of rats I need for the bigger snakes, so until then Demi gets worms after he eats the last pink.
Here he is in shed from a few months ago.

The most recent pictures of him. He's gotten this weird indent down his back, too, not sure what that is about. He hasn't shown signs of being ill, so I assume it's just his chubbiness.

As of last month, I finally got a measurement on Demigod, and he came out at 20". Quite a bit longer than I was expecting. I thought 18" was going to be generous. lol No recent photos, but he seems to have slimmed out slightly on his new diet. He's eating 2 day old mouse pinks rather than 2 large pinks (not sure I accidentally ordered the wrong size or if they got mixed up) every 12-14 days. No changes in behavior, he's the same level of food-oriented as he's always been.
