Frogs eye buldging out please help!
Hi my girlfriend has a ruby eyed frog and she by accidentally closed the front exo terra door on him she didnt realize it was on the corner and hit it eye and it popped out a little. Her dad popped it back in and is kind of closing but can tell its in pain. What can she do? We are bringing the little guy to a vet tomorrow but any suggestions now would be great.

    Thanks Stealthclown :)

It probably has a facial fracture of some sort. I hope the vet is able to help him.

My only advice is to keep him quarantined to some extent. I feel so bad for the little guy... I don't mean to sound awful but I don't know if the vet will be able to do much for it... let us know how it goes though.

    Yeah that sucks.
I really hope a vet can do something either way.

Update i took the little guy to vet this morning and the vet said its mostlikely buldging due to swelling behind his eye she gave me two forms of eye drops one for anti inflammatory and other for pain and to help keep it moist she said it should get better :) ill keep updating

Hope the little hopper turns out okay. Suppose he could lose the eye? We used to have a one eyed lizard...forget which type....in college. He lived a good life and did just fine with one eye.

    Thats not good.
The added stress of having it with you isnt helping either.
Leave him in his enclosure and let nature do its thing.
I am worried there is more damage there than just the eye.
It takes a lot of pressure to get one to pop out like that.

Yeaa thats what i was thinking about the additional damage but his normal eye is bigger then the hurt one we were going to take it to vet but the prio vet bill was high and now they said they would charge us again so we are going to try feeding it and see if we can find any help onljne or if any of you guys have any suggestions that would be great :)

    Thanks, stealthclown

Update his eye is still black most likely reasoning is he is probably blind in that eye. But its not swollem anymore hes a lot more active he even jumped for first time since incident!

Now we are trying to get some food into him :)

Nice! Sometime you have no choice except to take the animal to the vet. That is a good looking tree frog specimen. Hope he heals up. Stay in peace and not pieces. Good call going to the vet. :gj:

Hoping this guy makes a recovery! Is he eating yet? That is a big sign of well being in amphibians.

What did they figure out with the eye? It sounds like she punctured part of the eye. Im also sorry i missed this been away a while.

Have you also done an electrolyte or honey bath? The poor thing. Also... do not just grab your tree frog up without at least wetting your hands. Their skin is very delicate to say the least. What sort of enclosure is the thing in? With the injury it should be in quarentine until fully healed.

Should join me over at frogforum.net
