edit: the link i am talking about is on the second page of that thread posted by djnzlab.

noooooo waaay
Boas get bigger than balls and can eat them.there was a postabout a boa eating a ball somewhere here.First of all,its not even a good idea to house two balls together unless for breeding purposes.Let alone two different species!
-
i have 2 ball phyton in the same cage on 2 years old one is 4 months never do anything wrong they sleep together
-
They sleep together because they only have one spot that is the correct temp they are looking for. It is definitely not reccomended that you keep two snakes in the same cage no matter the species. In my personal opinion, one snake = one cage unless you are breeding them and then you seperate them once the breeding has occurred.
-
that can work but sometimes if one defecates poorly(such as runny stool),how do you know who did it?
-
well the snake i just bought that is 4 month they had 2 snakes in the same cage i have a friend who has too big snakes in one big cage and they are 2 big full grown snake .. so why can't you i seen it that is why i did it
-
I'm not knocking the fact that you have two snakes in the same cage. I am stating that I personally would not do it. It can cause feeding problems, can lead to both snakes having health problems, can lead to accidental breeding, and can lead to one of the snakes being injured if he/she doesnt want the other around. For me, i prefer to provide each snake with the optimal living conditions I can.
-
to quote Clay Davenport "If you cannot afford a second enclosure or do not have the additional space for a second enclosure, then you cannot afford another snake."
-
i have 2 ball python in the same cage no need for another unless i realy need it
-
Yes need for another. And I have heard of people doing that, but I DO NOT reccomend it. The only reason Ball Pythons should be housed together is wwhen they breed.
-
I just dont see why you would want two snakes in the same cage ?? Maybe for money reasons......Like bpkid quoted that guy............

I totally agree with that.
And also, in the wild Bp's or really any other snake, dont incounter there species very often at all in the wild, they are solitary animals.......exept for when breeding of course.
-
holy smokes i went to that link! the bp looked bigger than the boa in my eyes
-
Yeah it kinda did look bigger (girth)
I wonder what made the boa want to eat it.
Maybe they explained in the writing part, but all i looked at was the pictures.
-
THey explained it in the writing.

Sometimes I wonder about you guys and your posts . . .
Sad but true, lol

I was reading a post similar to this on ssnakess.com a few months ago.
A poster from there keeps 2 anacondas ( yellow and green ) a bigg burm and a ball python together in the same encloser, and had no problems what so ever he claimed,
HOWEVER i am in NO way saying this is a good practise im only stating that there are people who do it, and there snakes live thier avg life span.
I would never do this, nor would i recommend some one to do it, i am just letting you know that people do , do it without a noticable problem ( not taking into consideration the extreme stress it must place on snake )
So do yourself and your snake a favor and avoide all chances and keep them seperate,
Its better to play it safe and have healthy snakes than to take the chance and have one or both snakes die

I think it's a stupid idea. For one thing, let's say that one of the snakes contracts internal parasites, or had them when you bought him. If both snakes were to be housed seperately, then there'd be no rational way of the second snake contracting them as well. But if they're housed together, then you know what is giong to happen.
How sad it is that people house snakes together like that. I bet they do not even practice a decent quarantine period beforehand. And I don't even want to think about what the results would be if one of them had IBD.
Anyone who houses boas and pythons together, ever hear about IBD? If not, I strongly suggest you look it up, and see what potential horrors your snakes could be prone to. Good luck.

Hmm how to put it delicately - you can put a fork through your eye as well - even if and especially when you have seen it done - far from a smart move though.

Another example of how Smulkin has a fine way with words. :)

It's okay if you have two snakes in the same cage, if it is a room sized enclosure, like at the zoo.
So they snakes can find their own hides, and not have to struggle together in one.
You could of easily put one of them in a rubbermaid for $10 dollars.
Also, what kind of enclosure are the two currently being held in?
