Rainbow boa progression thread
I ordered a baby rainbow in January of this year (2015). She was born on October 13, 2014. Here are her baby pics (birth - two weeks old - two months old). Photos taken by the breeder.

Due to cold and nasty weather, I wasn't able to receive her until March 12th. She bit the person who checked on her first, but was perfectly calm with me. I was so stunned at her colors! She's five months old here. I figured she'd be bigger, but her beauty makes up for it.

I let her settle in, and decided to hold her for a few minutes on Friday, March 20th. It was overcast, so no iridescence. She hasn't taken a meal yet, but seems to be settling into her new home. Also hasn't tried nipping me either (knock on wood).

I had her named "Jade" until I met a person named Jade that I didn't want to think about everytime I saw my snake. I think I've re-decided on "Easel" but I'm not completely sure. However, I'll be using this thread as a growth/progression thread - so stick around for updates!

wow she's so beautiful!!! I can't wait to see more and ill defiantly be looking for more pictures as she gets bigger;) thanks for the pictures! by the way I like the name jade, but if its awkward then whatever

Nice rainbow! I have one i named trip. I almost named him Mickey because he has 7 perfect Mickey mouse heads in his pattern :)
Looks like yours has some Mickey heads too...
-
Beautiful! Time to get that snake eating!

Re: Rainbow boa progression thread
Beautiful girl! I love how bright her spots are.
I've been bitten by my yearling BRB. I thought it was a closed mouth strike until I saw the tiny blood spots. Nothing to be afraid of. :)

Thanks! I like Jade too, especially since her mom was named Jadeite. But definitely awkward now. Easel has stuck, I like it. Her future possible boyfriend's name is Vincent (after Van Gogh) and Vin Easel reminds me of Vin Diesel. So that's cool. Lol

She just took her first meal with me! I didn't have my camera on-hand, but later I'll get a pic of her bump. So exciting!

Re: Rainbow boa progression thread
Here's the promised shot (with flash) of her food bump. Barely noticeable now with a few hours of digestion under way.
Don't mind the newspaper, I like to keep new arrivals on newspaper/paper towels until their first BM - she left me a present earlier today and is going on a more humidity-friendly substrate later this week. :) http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15...382cdd1224.jpg

Re: Rainbow boa progression thread
I just realized I forgot to post photos of her parents! I'm trying to be as thorough as possible with this thread - for your enjoyment and for me in the future!
*all photos from the breeder*
Her dad, a high/bright orange (in two different lightings)

Her mom, a nice reddish-orange lady

And her very aberrant sisters (at 2 months old)... Maybe she's got some of that hidden in there somewhere ;)

I took her outside for some warmth and nice pictures, but the entire time I didn't notice the fingerprint on my lens, so this was the only one that came out relatively decent

Are the pictures at the beginning of this thread "broken" for anyone else? It won't let me view any pictures up until the scale photo

Re: Rainbow boa progression thread
I'm probably posting too many pictures but she's just too awesome not to photograph constantly. I'm pretty sure she's starting to go into her first shed with me. Getting kind of "reclusive" and dull-looking. I'm excited!

Got my first "tag" today. Actually not really sure if she bit or if she missed, lol. It was half a second after I snapped this pic. I've been anticipating the nips, surprised it took so long!
I'm actually doubting that she's going into shed now. She's clear as can be.
Also: how do you all think she'll color up as an adult? Bright or deep orange, bright or deep red, brown out? I've been looking at the siblings and now I wonder how she'll develop, as her head is darker and her colors are a lot lighter than her siblings. Hope she'll end up like her dad!

She's beautiful.
And there can never be something as "too many" pictures :)
-
^^^Agreed. No such thing as too many pics. Lovely little one. Hope she stays bright
-
Love it!!
I have a little rainbow boa hopefully coming soon. She's all paid for, just waiting on the weather. I can't wait to see her in person. Seeing a rainbow boa in person beats any pictures IMO. But the pictures are still pretty ♥

It's so true! You can never truly capture their beauty on camera. Who did you buy yours from?

Living Gems :) By the looks of your first couple pictures so did you. They have been fantastic to work with.

Yes, Cliff is awesome and super helpful. Did you get a baby from litter A, B, or C?

Ah, know what's crazy? I'd considered getting this baby as well, but decided to wait and see what's in store for this year. :) I'd love to see how she grows!

There will be plenty of pictures!
Are you planning on getting another? I really want one of Rainbows -R-Us candy stripes but I imagine that is quite a bit out of my price range.
-
Agreed, definitely no such thing as too many pictures! Especially since they're pictures of a less common breed.
Ugh, don't get me started on the candy stripes... They are so gorgeous. Being in Canada, they are even further out of my price range.
-
I'm on pins and needles, she is either going to be shipped today or tomorrow. Hopefully the weather cooperates.

I'm actually not a super huge fan of the candy stripes, or even the zebra stripes and other "morphs". I'm more a fan of the higher colored rainbows :)

Nothing at all wrong with "normal" BRB's either. :) I'd love a high orange one, myself.
I actually just had my girl out for some quality time. Love that little face!

The fleeting half second of stillness in which one may photograph their rainbow boa:

Also took a pic inside as a test, ended up with something kind of awesome. Holy rainbow!

ETA: she also had her first shed with me! All in one piece. She ate again last night as well.

Yes, you do! She is lovely.
This is Easel's possible future boyfriend, Vincent. He is not mine, and neither is the picture. He belongs to a friend.

This shows how much their colors change depending on lighting! These pictures came straight from my phone, and have had absolutely nothing done to them (not cropped, just taken in square mode).
