Well, did anyone here know I love to write? Well I do, and I've written a bit about a battle. I'd be glad if you looked at it, thanks!
The sounds of battle filled my ears and made my aching head throb all the more! The evil song of shrieking metal as steal met steel, the dreadful melody of the twanging as shaft left bow, these filled my head as a drove my sword deep into the neck of my enemy! He gave a despairing gurgle as he died, spewing forth blood onto the rain drenched earth.
Death, it was everywhere. It filled the very air I breathed, tainting it with the aroma of decay and the silence that the slain lavish, the silence of eternal sleep.
"Sire I............" The sound of Gwain's voice was cut short as an arrow lodged itself deep into his back!
I howled with rage as a turned my horse toward the center of battle, where my friends body lay being crushed under the feet of the advancing infantry. They treated his body as if it were no more than mud, or dirt! My rage blotted out my reason, the red mist has clouded my eyes! I charged down the hill, strait into the forest of pikes! My horse gave a distressed whiney as one of the sharp points dug itself deep into his chest, sending me into the air above the heads of my foes! I crashed to earth taking down three with me! I rose in spite of my reluctant, aching, pain-filled body, ready to slay as many of the heartless murderers as I could before I myself fell.

"Where is Arthur?" The gruff voice of William was directed toward no one is particular. "We can't hold off much longer, we need him..." He was cut off by the voice of the young squire Kay:
"There! There he is! Amidst the phalanx! Look! What is he mad?"
William answered in one word:
"Charge!"
_______________________________________________________________
"Die! Every last one of you die! Killers! Murderers! I will slay you! Every last #### one you ########!" My words seemed to come from far away. From someplace deep within me.
I felled many but still; they came on from every side! They were forced to drop their pikes or be impaled by my thrusting blade. Many tried to escape by their weapons were far to long for them to move amidst the tight packed formation.
I cleaved the head off one, I slit the throat of another before I felt pain. One man had managed to drive the butt of his pike into my back! I fell with the sound of William, my best knight, ringing in my ears:
"Fight for your king men, and God may show us mercy!"
Then the blackness came, it snuck up and put me into unconsciousness.

Interesting, other than a couple grammatical and spelling errors I think it's pretty good. Are you writing a book?
-
Well I'm thinking about it. I might be thinking of writing a book later on. I don't have any ideas right now. And I don't think publishing companies would accpet something from a 13 boy. But thanks for the complements! And yes, there may be a few errors but I was feeling kinda lazy. LOL!
-
I know what you mean, I guess I'm just a stickler for proper grammar and spelling (all that Catholic school--those nuns really know how to pound it into you  )..however, I'm lazy sometimes too. I wish I could write like that but I'm not very imaginative. I do love to read though. If you're a talented writer, your age shouldn't matter. You've got a good start, you should see where it leads you, you may have a novel before you know it!
-
I have the starts to a few different novels of my own. None of hte ideas seemed fresh and new though after I look back at them. I'm hoping to write a series of historical fiction novels or maybe...
Nah, I won't bore you all with the thousands of my ideas.
-
Well, if you ever get through one idea and produce a novel, I'll be sure to pick it up and read it. :)
-
Thanks! I'm holding you to that! LOL!
I'll at least sometime publish a book of short stories. I'm pretty sureo f that!

sorry about your dad. that must be hard.. :(
Mark will be in Iraq anywhere from 8 months to a year or more. for right now, they're only saying 8 months. but it could change. :( it sucks, its hard enough with him being in NC, but take out talking to him everyday on the phone and seeing him every 2-3 months, i'll be a nervous wreck for 8 straight months.
first_time_herp, you're a VERY good writer for being 13!! i'm impressed. i'm really good at english/writing and i wanted to be a college eng. professor for a while, so i like writing and all that good stuff. if you do write a book, autograph it and send it to me. :)

FTH, my daughter who is a year older than you is interested in writing a book, too. She's encouraged by the fact that there have been a number of authors published while still in their teens, including Harper Lee (To Kill a Mockingbird), S.E. Hinton (The Outsiders), Amelia Atwater-Rhodes (In the Forests of the Night), Joyce Maynard (Looking Back), Maureen Daly (Seventeenth Summer), Walter Farley (Black Stallion), Isabelle Carmody (Farseekers), Mary Shelley (Frankenstein), Zlata Filipovik (Zlata's Diary), and Louisa May Alcott (The Inheritance). I'm sure some of those are familiar to you. Only Farley was a boy, but I am sure there are other male teen authors who were published that I just don't know about. Don't assume you can't be a published author just because you're young. Work on your craft and you might just find a publisher willing to give you a chance. :)

Wow, I like your writing. It is pretty vivid and attention-grabbing considering your young age. If you ever get anything published, I'll buy a copy!
