albino or lavender?
-
Hard to tell in hatchlings, especially in a photo, but my 'guess' would be albino. What was it sold to you as?
-
That looks like a hatchling. It's hard to see much of a difference when they're young, but as they grow older the color changes are pretty obvious for Lavs.
What was the pairing that produced this animal? Lavs and regular Albinos aren't compatible, so knowing the pairing would answer your question definitively.

I purchased him from a local pet store and they could not give me any info on the little guy. I noticed he has patches of purple on his head/neck and tail. I have not owned an albino or a lavender before and every albino I have seen did not have the color of pink/purple that he has.

Hatchling albinos can have that kind of iridescence when they are younger, but they grow out of it. Honestly, like MarkS said, I'd also be surprised if he were anything more than a regular albino - especially since he's from a local pet store without any sort of knowledge about his history. Stranger things have happened though, I suppose.

It's an albino. You can tell by the coloring on the body. It is white, where on a Lav it is a lavenderish color. Also the pattern is a dull yellow, normal albino color. On a Lav it is an orangish color that kind of glows.

When you can check out the thread "just some pics" by Serpents Den and see another example of a lavender albino.:D

Re: albino or lavender?
I think that's just a regular albino. The "purple" you're seeing is not pigment in the scales but rather a translucence of the white scales allowing the pink flesh beneath to show through. As babies, they both look "yellow and white" but the lavender babies are brighter, more orangey, and have more "shimmer" to their color, all of which shows nicely in TessadasExotics's picture. Also, lavenders are less common and therefore more expensive than regular albinos, so as mentioned already, it's unlikely to wind up in a pet store with no history.
Very pretty albino baby, though!

here's a nice comparison shot of an Albino & Lavender side by side.
