    What morph is this?
Someone local is selling a young male and he said he'll let him go for $120 if I take him this weekend.

I don't know enough about morphs to be able to tell what this is! Not the best pic but it's all he sent me.

Spider for sure. Possibly something additional, but if he didn't say anything else it's probably just a spider.

Is that an okay price for a snake like that? I assume it's just a 'normal' morph?

For a young male spider I would say "eh". 75 to 80 would be more like what I would pay for it, but if it's a craigslist or other local classified type ad you'll mostly be looking at slightly inflated prices. Spider is a pretty common morph present in many collections from small time to big, except where the breeder doesn't like the spider wobble for personal or ethical reasons.

If you're considering this guy seriously, you will need to look into the spider wobble or else you'll be in for a nasty shock.

its a little quirk that happens with the gene most of the time, makes them look sick or loopy. Not all have it, and some will get it over time, and some are worse than others. Do your research on youtube so u know what exactly can happen with the spider gene.

In summary it's basically a neurological tick that causes off movements, strange circling movements of the head or corkscrewing in the body, and sometimes issues in other areas. a YouTube search will go a long way here.

It's a spider. You can find a male a fair bit cheaper and from a less pushy seller. That person should be selling cars, surprised they didn't throw a shazam or two at you too.

Oh wow. This would actually be my first BP. I was planning on going to a breeder next week, think I'll stick with that, lol.

Is it only present in spiders? Or in other morphs, too?

Why is this snake GUARANTEED to wobble, I'm I missing part of the story or is this just noob stuff? It looks like a good clean Spider, I don't buy animals off Craiglist though.

Yeah... I think you're right. I'm glad I posted this. I would have had no idea otherwise and would have ended up with my first BP and freaking out if it had this lol.

    Thanks for your help everyone!

I am by no means an expert when it comes to reptiles or animals of any kind. What I am is someone who frequently buys, repairs, photographs and resells "luxury" items as a side business. I do not mean to offend anyone, but a pet of this kind could be termed a "luxury" item. The first and only piece of evidence you should need in order to run for the hills, is the sellers photograph and his "speed" or lack thereof in selling the item. The photo in this persons listing is horrendous and his statement that you have to take the offer now is absolutely ridiculous. Those are big warning flags.

I did a lot of lurking on here reading posts about proper purchasing techniques before we went out an purchased any snakes. My wife and I owned Corn Snakes for YEARS before we decided to get back into reptiles. We chose a local reptile store and have built up a rapport with the owner. We have since purchased 4 BPs from him and he is a big part of our lives as we are in his store once or twice a week and often have questions for him. We have recently purchased two adult BPs via a local Reptile FB page from someone who needed to sell them due to moving in the next month and not being able to take them. He provided TONS of communication, multiple photos and let me handle them prior to getting a firm answer from me on my intent to purchase them.

You made a great choice by popping on here and getting advice. And you were wary of the listing which is great. I hope you find a good breeder/reptile store that will help you on your journey. Good luck.

    Regard,
    Paul

PS-I had a Female Bumblebee shortly that had a particular bad case of "wobble" to the point where she would take an hour to go 36 inches across her terrarium. She fed just fine but was also VERY aggressive and we decided to take her back. The wobble didn't bother me that much though it concerned me in terms of potential breeding risks, what bothered me most was the snake being aggressive with my 12 year old daughter. All our snakes are pets first and we handle them and enjoy that aspect of BP ownership, so not being able to handle such a beautiful snake was a deal breaker for us.

I have a 2 month old Spider that currently shows little or no wobble. She's very active in the cage so I've been watching her, occasionally I'll notice a very slight side to side or up/down wobble lasting a second or so, but she's definitely not having a hard time because of it.

Spider Male are about $75 female $100/$120 so your deal is actually not a great deal if there is a Reptile Show near you at some point.

Online will cost you the same but you will have to pay for shipping.

I was really considering him even though he may have a wobble (I wanted to see him first) but then I found out it's the same guy that sold me my first corn snake (I bought her from a guy on Kijiji. We never exchanged names or anything - I've since learned this is a mistake). Said corn snake had health issues from the get-go and she only lived a month and a half. So, I'm definitely glad that I came here first to get advice. It kept me from impulsively getting the snake.

I am seeing a breeder next week and will get my first bp from him :)
