pit bull help please
Trying to move to Florida and having issues with finding a place to rent with owning a bully breed . Anyone live down there that could point in the right direction that owns bully breeds . Looking more north Florida . I've been searching online keep getting apartment complexes I'm looking for a house . So if anyone knows any real estate agent or is one yourself and can help out some.please do . Thanks

They're a banned breed in a LOT of counties. :( Good luck, though!
-
Yea starting to see that . Looking like fl may not b the place for me

Re: pit bull help please
Try posting on Craigslist that you are looking for a place without breed restrictions. Or if there's any bully breed rescues in the area, talk to them, they might know friendly housing places.

What is taking you to florida?
First find an unrestricted county.
Second you might have to look at buying instead of renting.
Or you could come to Texas. LoL 3 houses within a block of me for sale.

Pit: I want to get back down south I was Tennessee for a while but cake back to NY like 5 years ago and I had my fill . Florida because of the water I love ocean fishing and being by the beach . Texas is not out the question . But due to the fact that it's a big move and I'm not going to a guaranteed job . I'm going with my mom and pop and the plan is to rent something for 6 months until I can get something on my own . I would love to buy but right now it's not a option prior bad past history lol . I don't even know if worded that right . But u het the hint .

I'm actually trying to convince my folks about Texas . But u know these dam new yorkers

Texas is totally a nice place to live and if you can convince your parents to head this way instead, you may be better off.
I give my opinion here with a grain of salt and a disclaimer that I'm not telling you to do anything illegal, but I know several pit owners that get their dogs into banned breed apartments by calling them lab mixes. Turns out most people ignorant enough to ban certain dog breeds wouldn't know a pit from a lab unless it bit them on the rear, in which case it becomes a pit by default.

This is true but Florida had like pit bull check sheets lmao . Never seen nothing like it . People are way 2 much these days . But I'm starting to look over by gainsville Looks like there cool with apbt . But still I'm considering not going to fl at all now because of all this . I would love to forster bully breeds in the future and maybe Florida ain't the place for me

Yup, my daughter's Apt has a pit/rottie ban, and there are pits there!

That's the people that run the place that don't want those breeds there . My thing is counties go a lot harder also I'm starting to get nervous that it maybe growing down there n the last thing I need is to get settled and some years down the way I get a knock on more talking bout it's a law now . Cause then there's gonna b a real problem

And they would be the trash that makes those of us that are responsible owners look bad.
Be honest, upfront and tell them why they wont get your money.

Pit u are right we should b up front about everything but sometimes in this day and age people make it extremely hard for some .
And me honestly would never do that . I take pride on being a ABPT. Owner and I try to teach and educate whoever I can that people destroyed the breed and that there nothing like what others describe . I convinced 2 people in my lifetime witch were my parents . They were all for how pit bulls kill people and shouldn't b here only about 5 years ago . When I was 20 I brought my first bully home the cutest pup . I went to the store to get dog food was gone for 15 min and when I came back my dog was gone . My father thought the 9 week old pup was gonna kill everyone in the house cause it was a pit . Now my dad fights right along side of me when it comes time to defend . Totally off topic but it came to my head . I'm actually proud of him for that . And myself 2 for always proving my dad wrong on the breed. It's funny tho . They ran into a situation and I let them move in with us .and when. I come home from work it's the funniest thing to see my pop napping on the couch with 2 pits sleeping on him..

It also helps to have your dog CGC tested or ADBA Safe Dog evaluated....to help show that your dog is a stable animal, when having to convince someone. Certainly doesn't hurt. Good luck in your search.

If you're searching for a house and not an apartment, try realtor.com. Militarybyowner.com is another good resource. You don't have to be military to use it, but it is primarily used by military folks listing their homes for sale or rent. And military people are, in general, more open minded about allowing pets, including pits.
I'll add my voice about South Texas, too. Really, any part of Texas is nice, but South Texas can put you close enough to the ocean to enjoy it, and realestate is generally cheaper than near the giant urban centers like Dallas. The weather can't be beat, although it gets pretty hot in the summer. And one really big plus....no state income tax.
Florida has its perks...we own a house there, as I mentioned before. But I've never lived in a state with more bureaucratic hoops you have to jump through just to accomplish simple tasks like getting a driver's license or enrolling your kids in school....or owning a beautiful dog like a pit bull. Nice place to visit, but I don't ever plan on living there again.
