And who did you vote for ??
Just curious :)
-
my mom voted for kerry,it is pretty close.all they need is either ohio or florida. That would really get bush jumpstarted.
-
wish i coulda voted... missed it by 8 months. i woulda voted for Kerry... my parents dont like that, they're republicans who are with Bush all the way.
how about you, Brandon? who would you have voted for?
-
if i coulda voted,i would have voted for kerry, not cause of my parents,i watch the news alot and kerry has convinced me
-
Hmm i really dont know .To be honest im not all that into politics.
Everybody over here is voting for bush so my msn screen name is Viva kerry !! ......Hey, somebody's gotta root for the under dog ,right ?
Im gettin it from all my friends, but i only did it to make them mad, its pretty funny.
But if i HAD to vote i think it would be for............GRRR i have no clue,i think both of them have alot of good and bad things about them so im really not sure.
-
I refuse to vote in presidential elections until the electoral college is disbanded. In 2000 Al Gore won the popular vote meaning more American citizens voted for him than George Bush but somehow George W still won, how you ask? The electoral college is how.
Not to be all bitter and cynical but today if not one person had voted for either George Bush or John Kerry, a president would still be elected now tell me again exactly how my vote counts?
Also the electoral college also prevents a truly independent person to ever have a chance to become president.
Ok my rant is done I would like it if Kerry won.
-
-
Hmm i never knew that, thanks for clueing me in.
I had no clue what an electoral college is,im goin to go research it.
-
MacWin...although the electoral college might not be the best way for all our votes to count, your vote still counts. If everyone had your mentality voting in general would be useless. Its your right to vote and I think you should exercise it. BUT I do agree with you...Kerry all the way. I'm not sure our country can handle another four years with G dubb.
-
Zachman, If my vote counts how did Gore win the popular vote and not become president? Not trying to start a argument just interested to see an answer to that.
-
Some help please ??
I agree with you. If somone wins the popular vote they should win the presidency as well. I'm saying that I think you should vote whether you like the electoral college or not. I'm not sure how boycotting the election because you don't like the electoral college will help your voice be heard. Although there are flaws in the system, we still need to exercise our fundamental right to vote in order for a democracy to function.
-
I am a conscientious objector.
-
UGH the electoral college makes me really mad. people say "well, its been this way forever." WELL, back in the day, they didnt have machines that counted votes. the president won by electoral votes ONLY because they had to hand-count them back then, then it would take forever to deliver the results. i'm guessing now they dont realize we have machines, phones and computers. @!&^%@!%# i'm not very pleased with the whole electoral college crap at all.
*grumble*

RANCO Thermostats w/powerstrip as low as 75.00
well atleast we agree on something Astra  BUSH!!!
and BTW if you dont vote .. you dont have any room to wine about who won ..lost whatever
-
I am w/ MacWin. Don't get me started on the race in 2000.
Being middle class, a women, gay, and having a teenage son who will have to register for the draft soon I have to say I voted for the only logical person for my shoes,
Kerry
But what is most important is that everyone who could vote did.
-
I voted for Kerry. I have been really unhappy with bush on the environmental standpoint. Also, I've been unhappy with Bush in just about everything he's done.
Surprisingly, Macwin, Co had a proposition up to change the way the electral college votes so that it reflect the popular vote more.. and it was voted down. CO is a winner takes all electoral vote state.
At any rate, I predict we won't hear the end of this for months.
-
Well I didn't vote but both my parents voted Bush. And I agree with them.
-
I figured we would, mainly because your signature is one of the best I've ever seen.
-
I voted, and of course voted for Kerry -- like Jotay, the only way I could. However, I did it knowing my vote wouldn't count. My district is so Republican that ALL my local races gave me a choice of Republican incumbent or write-in candidate, not a single Democratic or Independent challenger. But I spent my two hours in line anyway.
-
I too, agree w/ MacWin about the electoral college. And I voted for Kerry. My vote didn't really matter either, Kerry was going to win California regardless, but I voted anyway. The thought of four more years with Bush frightens me, but that seems to be the reality we're facing.
-
MacWin, there are a few presidents who were elected by the college but lost the popular vote, including ol' Billy Clinton his first term. Still want to complain? I live by the philosophy, if you don't vote then you don't get to complain. There is a possibility of Electoral reform, but if one doesn't vote for who they think will push that reform along, then one doesn't get to complain. As it is now, Kerry will loose the popular vote, but could become president by the college. That may well happen.
-
Ummm, Kindof scary

Not true. 92 election:
Clinton: 43%
Bush: 38%
Perot: 19%
He did not have a majority of the popular vote because it was a 3 candidate race. Clinton won a plurality, beating the other 2 candidates.
-
Im not a real fan of some of the things that have gone on in the past four years. I agree with most of the principles, just not the way they were put into action. I dont agree with many of Kerrys ideas.
I think we really need to get rid of the parties, then perhaps you could vote for somthing other then republican or democrat, and actually have it mean somthing.
Anyway, I voted Bush.
edit: and almost ended up sleeping on the couch because of it lol

Ditto here....
I would rather have 4 more years with Bush, then one day with Kerry! Just my opinion.....
Of course its not "Officially over"...but I say it is.
First time in history that a President has been elected with a full majority of the popular vote. Does that say alot about Bush? Well, not really, but it says alot about Kerry.
Oh, and yes....I voted. That is one right that I will not give up!
-
Let me rephrase, he did not win the majority of the popular, no one did, but the college got him in. My point is the GW is not the first to end up in that seat by the college, without the majority popular vote. I do think there should be some changes to the system, but it will be hard to come by becuase evertime anyone wins that way, they are not all that likely to complain.
-
With the current news reporting, unless it's completely wrong, Kerry is apparently conceeding the race to bush. I guess it's looking like the provisional and absentee ballots won't be enough to win him the Ohio votes.

yeah, I am not sure. I haven't actually heard any reposrt since before work. I am curious what is going on

at my school, sometimes kids ask me,"Who would you voted for?",and I say"Kerry".Then they make fun of me and say stuff that offends me like "Go back to your country!"and stuff like that.I thought we could voice our opinions without getting criticized. That happened to me today,I can barely type.I just wish prejuudicce coud go away.
-
You would be surprised, even though you shouldn't be, what people will say and do to others who are out voicing opinions they don't agree with. This is not limited to a party, race, sexual preference, nor is who the cruelty is directed to. It is sad really.
-
I voted and I voted for Kerry because my main issues are environment, human rights, civil rights, gay rights, campaign finance reform, and reforming drug laws... I got no hatred for nobody though, my roomate is a die hard Bush fan and we manage to live together in perfect peace and friendliness - it's just different issues for different people this whole dramatic division thing has got to go. But i agree about the electoral college - also there is an interesting thing about it ... Had there been a tie and .. I can't remember exactly how this works but if it came down to the senate or something there could be Bush with Edwards as a vice president.. yeah electoral college definately needs to be abolished, it's an outdated practice thought it wouldn't have changed this years results... but hey I do believe that everybody is trying to do what they think is best for the country - nobody puts themselves in the political arena with the intent to destroy america - it's just whoever you see as having a better vision. I love everyone regardless of who you voted for!! :) On a good note McCain won in AZ and Obama won in IL :)
-
I'd be surprised if McCain lost, he's been a member of congress for a while now. Hahaha, Obama got 70% of the vote here in IL. :)
-
My dad says that next time Hillary Clinton is going to run for president. That's interesting.. also, i wouldn't be suprised if one day Obama was the first black president. It'd be a nice change...
-
I think erlich(md governor)should run for prez.hes pretty cool.his wifes nice(i met her in person).Obama sounds cool too.
-
im for hilary clinton because shes a lady cuz i thought bill was a good presi
-
i looked at your last word and thought you said "pepsi".I just glance really quikly.
-
lol! thats my little abbreviation when i take notes for civics
-
Boy, I didn't mean to swat the hornets nest but I am glad that it has remained very civil.
What I posted was just strictly my opinion and thank god we all can express our opinions in this country. The more I think about it the more I realize it's not necessarily Bush that bothers me so much it's Cheney and more than him Ashcroft. Just like Bill Gates doesn't bother me near as much as Steve Ballmer or Microsoft itself.
I saw this article http://www.dslreports.com/shownews/56265
and it really scared me. Ashcroft is also from my home state and in my opinion he is a couple steps away from jack boots and a swastika on his sleeve. Again just my opinion.
Just remember folks this all comes from a wacky crazy Mac user. :P
What do I know I think different
-
hey its america, land of "freedom"!

I hope not. Or if she does, I hope she's facing McCain or another moderate Republican, because there is no way she's going to win. Genetically modified pigs will fly first. Obama, on the other hand, looks promising so far but needs to build experience first. One Senate term is not enough.
-
Just curious, how does averyone feel about Mcain? I have friends who are extremes on both side of the fence, but last night we discovered that we would have all voted for him, regardless of party, if he had been on the ticket. How does averyone else feel?
-
I think in 2008 Hillary will be on the ticket but as VP not pres.
I think it will be a long while before we see a pres that is a women or a person of color.
To quote one of my fav Seinfield's " Not that there is anything wrong with it "
Just that after this election it seems the winds are starting to really blow to the right.
-
Even though McCain is a republican (I tend to vote democratic or libertarian), I think I would vote for him (as a senator...I dunno what I would do if he ran for Pres). I've seen some of the things he's written or voted against, and when I've seen his reasons, I have tended to agree with most of them. The last time I saw something major in the news that McCain had done, was that he wrote a letter supporting the memorial tv showing of the troops who had died in Iraq. (If you recall, this was a big thing in which the president of the corporation cancelled it entirely, I think this happened around July or so). This showing was supposed to be names and photos.
Just things like that.
-
I wanted to voted for Mcain, but again he did not get a nomination, since Bush was already a shoe in this time. Maybe next time. I would have voted him over either candidate. I actually think that Hillary not winning the presidency will have less to do with her being a woman, than with her being, well, her. Speaking from a woman's point of view. :)
-
I'd love to see a woman or a person of color or even a non-christian -- anything different, really -- in one of the top two seats, but the country isn't ready yet (unlike progressive countries like, say, India, Pakistan, the UK), and it certainly won't be Hillary when it does happen. I think if Andy Young hadn't screwed up as Atlanta's mayor, he could possibly have been the first VP of color one day.
-
Btw, if you hadn't heard the Obama vs Keys race was acutally the first senate race (possibly in all of congress) where both major party canidates were african american.
I say we pit Hilary versus Obama (several years from now) and see what the country does then :P
-
-
Of course I just realized that we can't do that, since they're both democrats. Ok, we find some really popular republican minority and pit it against somebody else who is a really popular democratic minority.
