Cragislist deals - Any good ones in this list?
I'm not one to know much about BP morphs other than some are really expensive and some are not. There is this craigslist ad near me. wondering if any of those are worth asking for pictures of for the $30 fee? I mean obviously for $30 they likely aren't amazing examples of their morphs, but... I dunno. Thoughts?

WoW, fire sale. Or hot snakes!
Normals are easily worth 30 all day long.
As long as they are healthy with no issues, how can you go wrong?
Better go find one you like before the good/purdy ones are gone!

An orange dream for $30? and a female Jigsaw?
Have you ever heard the phrase "if it is too good to be true it probably isn't" ?
Avoid!!
There are plenty of good, reliable and honest people out there to help you get started.
-
I am not looking to breed, for any kind of reference. But there are some kick ass morphs out there that I'd snap up now if any of them were once in a life time prices.
Good point, Dr. Del... It does seem like someone who is getting out of the hobby and just wants the snakes gone, possibly, no?
I may email, at least - can't hurt, I suppose. I guess I dont' know enough about snakes to know when it seems scammy or not! (that's why I have all of you to help me!)

That's why I said fire sale.
You never know. Maybe this guy/gal has to come up with quick cash, or be on the fly quick.
Maybe Guido says it time to pay up or move out!

I use a secondary email for stuff like this. I think a exploratory email cant hurt. If they reply they are going on a mission trip and want a money order then you know its a scam.
Maybe they really are in a tight spot and you can get a great deal. Just be smart with it.
-
Definitely. I sent an email and used Craigslist's web link, which will give them jumbled CL email address instead of my real one (which is a secondary account as is). Asked why the snakes are being sold so low, and asked for a few pictures of the Jigsaw, Orange Dream and Pinstripes. I suppose I'll see if I get anything back. Will update for sure. :)
-
did a tineye and a google image search and the photo wasnt used anywhere else. so he is in possession of the snakes atleast.
-
First impression looks like stolen snakes but being advertised by someone that at least has an inkling to the hobby, but the morph list looks like someone working on their own projects.
If your exploratory email leads to being able to see how they're being kept you then would know for sure.
If it turns out to be a hobbyist that's hard up I'd have a hard time paying 30 bucks for some of those snakes though... there's taking advantage of a good deal but then again there's like... damn i dont feel good about myself
-
Spoons: definitely post what happens. I'm interested to see how legit this is. I'm nowhere near Minneapolis but for that price I may have to try to figure something out.

fire ball python
speaking of buying from classifieds, someone is selling this as a fire ball python and im just unsure if it really is a fire can someone plz helphttp://ball-pythons.net/gallery/file...0-wa0000_1.jpg

Do I littled investigating, no need for secret spy stuff. If you don't give any money without the snake in your hand, you have nothing to lose but time. Yeah it sounds to good to be true. Maybe the person just went too fast, and now they want out just as fast. See people on here all the time build collections in months if not weeks. What do they say, their like potatoe chips. Can't stop at one. Maybe they got a belly ache. Lol

Re: Cragislist deals - Any good ones in this list?
I would only meet face to face and inspect each animal very carefully before buying it. A lot of cheap CL snakes are scams, you send money Western Union, and the scammer disappears.
There are legit reasons for "fire sales" - job loss, illness, divorce - and some not so legit ones like BPNV or OPMV is ripping through the collection.
-
Since I live close by I sent them a message too, waiting to see what they say.
-
Interesting, does look more like a fire sale, someone getting out of the hobby sale to me. He has normals listed from each year he was likely breeding the others and was never able to sell them.
-
Re: Cragislist deals - Any good ones in this list?
I spoted that last night right after I told my girl I was going to not buy any more bps for a while. Good luck grab that mistic for me and ill give ya 60.
-
MarkS - Lemme know if you get an answer. Nothing for me yet!

Re: Cragislist deals - Any good ones in this list?
I saw a pied male on craigslist this week but it was gone 5 min after posting. $50. Not sure how legit it was but the pic was gorgeous
-
Got a reply. I think I may go and look, but waiting on pics still: FrostysBP, if you were serious I can grab you that mystic if I do go look/buy and it's all legit. Let me know, though you are 2.5 - 3 hours out, haha.
Hi Courtney,
We do realize the worth of these Balls. The reason we are selling them so cheep is because we were really into having them for years. It has gotten to the point where our interests have changed and we really would like to re-home them for others to enjoy. I will follow up with some pics.
-
Re: Cragislist deals - Any good ones in this list?
Yes I would love that mistic spoos my uncle live down there and I come there all the time I just can get there this weekend

Re: Cragislist deals - Any good ones in this list?
Just remember to have the best possible quarantine until you know things are ok.

My thought exactly! If they have lost interest in their collection then they may be showing some signs of neglect. Be careful but good luck too.

Re: Cragislist deals - Any good ones in this list?
Are you sure it's legit? Like that someone didn't steal a bunch of snakes from a house they were robbing and decide "hey I can sell these!" Craigslist is too sketchy for me

Honestly I don't believe someone would be stupid enough to steal such a huge collection and turn around and sell it on a public forum for prices that are drawing attention from a lot of people across the nation. Just figuring in the time it would take to clear out an entire collection of ball pythons from someones house and set them up in a new environment only to sell them for a measly 30 dollars a snake? This wouldn't be just stupid, this would be epic level dumb and dumber nonsense.
-
Well, I mean I can't be sure of anything. But having that specific detail about all of the morphs? I would bet money they're not stolen. Possibly a bit neglected, but it looks like the person - if it's legit - had a breeding setup going on, if they know the different morphs and years of each of them. Probably started with a few normals (it looks like) and expanded from there.
Nothign is certain, but nobody asked me to wire any money so far, so it seems to be going okay. Waiting on pictures, I assume I'll get some tomorrow. Wil post when I do.

Re: Cragislist deals - Any good ones in this list?
The reason I say to watch quarantine is sadly more serious than that.

Wow, what a painful story to hear about. Very good lesson, but how utterly devastating :( Definitely would make you stop and think before pushing the margin of quarantine.
-
Re: Cragislist deals - Any good ones in this list?
Well, for what it's worth, I met up with these people and ended up buying 4 snakes for $30.00 each. The appear to be in good shape, not the greatest examples of the morphs but not bad. And they were sexed correctly too. They're in quarantine now so I guess we'll know if I got a good deal or not in a couple of months.

That pewter is pretty. And they do seem to be in relatively healthy condition. So that is encouraging. If only I were closer...and already had more housings set up.
-
Grats on the pickups! Be sure to keep us updated on them all.
-
I think your assessment on the yellow belly is right, she looks more like a fire to me also. Fingers crossed they work out for you.
Was there a reason given for the low prices?
-
Well, they appaently have a business building custom cars and the business is taking off so they've been traveling around the country a lot and just don't have time anymore, they needed to get rid of their animals quickly hence the lowball prices.

Me too. That pewter seems pretty light colored. I hope there are no issues, congrats!
-
I won't lie, I'm a little bit upset they never followed through with me. I never heard a word back after what I posted last a few pages ago. I am glad that at least someone could buy some and it turned out to be legitimate.
Congrats on the snakes, they're gorgeous.
-
I'm glad they were able to get placed, so jealous I always live so far away from these deals...It's good to hear this wasn't something shady and that the snakes weren't in an unhealthy situation.

Are mites that hard to deal with? I mean I can see how hard it would be if you had a huge collection and no quarantine plan, but still. I can't imagine that someone would lowball the price of snakes because they had mites or sell them purely to not deal with treating mites

If you let them get out of hand they can be tough to deal with especially if you have a large collection and they've become 'established'
