    What is this?
I got Conan out when I got home from work tonight and he has something going on with the scales on his head. What is it? I know it's hard to see, but it just looks flaky. Like it's dry. BAD!!!http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15...7efacffe83.jpghttp://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15...b01082244f.jpg

It looks almost like when a feeder will try to bite mine and it roughs up the scales but doesn't break the skin... Is there something in the cage decor he could've gotten his head stuck in then roughed up the scales trying to get back out?

Not really. It's pretty bare bones. Hides, water bowl, and substrate. There is a smooth branch but I don't think I've ever seen him on it. He hasn't ate in 3 weeks so it can't be a feeder.

That's really bizarre looking. If it's not that or retained shed idk what it could be. Hopefully someone else will have a better suggestion :(

I really hope it's not the beginning of scale rot. I hope someone knows. But thank you for your reply. I'm going to try to get better pics if it.

Doesn't look like scale rot to me. That usually shows up on the belly below the neck, and is almost never on their backs, but it looks like this is on the back of the head as well.

Yeah it's all over his head. I'm going to set him up a vet visit tomorrow.

The first snake I was gonna buy had something similar, but it was more of a growth. It was on the neck. I got halfway home and noticed it. Hen I brought it back to the pet shop the guy said it would just she off. Don't know if that helps but maybe when your snake sheds it will clear up a bit? How long ago did he shed

His last shed was 2 weeks ago and it didn't go so smooth. But once he got all the shed off this wasn't there. It's kinda weird. The vet can't get me in today so I'm going to take him in tomorrow. I hope your right. Just being from a bad shed.

I live in Indiana and with the single digit temps outside I have been fighting humidity due to my furnace running nonstop! I have a humidifier run in all day too and that doesn't help much. I think humidity is causing the problem.

I will keep everyone posted. I feel bad because he is the guy I rescued from a owner who had him in terrible living conditions. No UTH, a normal house bulb for heat and light. No hides. And humidity at 20% at all times. So I brought him home and built him this extravagant enclosure and now he is having health issues. It just all sucks [emoji20]http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15...a6cd5da4a3.jpg

Does/did he have RI? Low humidity+low heat... That's one heck of an enclosure. I'm jealous! Are those glass or plastic doors?

    Re: What is this?
I don't think he has RI. He doesn't breath abnormally. No wheezing. Whenever I have have him out he wraps around my neck and lays his head on my shoulder and just lays there for hours and I can't hear anything out of the norm. His heat is perfect, it's just humidity. They are plexiglass doors.

    Re: What is this?
Well that's good then. I thought he may be ill from the previous owner. Whatever this thing is it's probably the previous owners fault, because you seem to have gone above and beyond with all his stuff IMO.

I thought if the doors were plastic then maybe the holes were sharp and he rubbed against them. If it doesn't clear up after another shed or if it looks worse in the next few weeks I would go to a vet
