Names?
I know a lot of people don't tend too name there snakes they but I guess its understandable once you have a much larger collection but I believe in naming all my snakes and so far I've named them all after Greek gods or goddesses ex. Hera(normal) hestia (normal) Ares(pastel) Poseidon (bumblebee) Athena (mojave) Apollo (spider) Aphrodite (butter) chronos( pewter) and the newest addition is a awesome little black back male who is in the naming process :) so do you guys name your snakes even in big collections?

I name my snakes, and I even have one named Athena! She's a hatchling Lesser who has an attitude.

Good choice :)
-
I named my first three but after that I pretty much stopped. I think the creative juices stopped flowing lol
-
I mostly let my husband name my snakes. Most of them ended up with regular people names :P
I named Kirby, Georgette, Giovanni, and Dexter. Technically I also named Chase, but my husband had picked Chelsea when we thought he was a she, so I really just gender flipped that one. Other names my husband picked were Edward (not Ed, not Eddie, Edward. He was adamant), Miranda, Zelda, and Amber.
-
I only have 2 right now, but they both have names. My girl is Khaleesi and my boy's Bishop :)

Re: Names?
Mine are named after classical songs or operas. They are 0.1 Bolivian Boa- Carmen (opera), 0.1 Woma BP- Elise (Beethoven's Fur Elise), 0.1 Gentic Banded BP- Valkyrie (Richard Wagner's Ride of the Valkyries), 1.0 Genetic Stripe BP- O Fortuna (opera Carmina Burana), and the 1.0 Bearded Dragon- Funiculi (Italian song Funiculi Funicula).
-
My BP is named Theron.. which I am sure I read somewhere that it translates to "The Hunter" or something like that in either Latin or Greek.

Sweet! I was named after my mother's favorite opera :)

I also go for greek names. My dogs name is Atlas (after the titan) and my lesser's name is Leonidas. I have a couple lined up for my next few
-
I've never named a snake.
-
I named my first ball python after the Greek God Poseidon. Mainly because I am obsessed with Greek mythology. I also have a pet rat called Zeus, which is another reason. Yes, it is odd that I keep rats and a snake but it's fine because I never handle them on the same day and the rooms get air sprayed constantly. If I get another snake, I'll probably call it Hades (If it's a male).

Re: Names?
0.0.1 Ball Python Normal Named "Delphi" (after the Python of Delphi)
1.0 Rainbow Boa Named "Voodoo" (The Serpent and the Rainbow)
1.0 As of yet unnamed BCI. I like "Leroy Brown" of the big bad kind, but my 0.1 friend is pushing for some Aztec name neither of us can pronounce or spell.
-
Re: Names?
I named my first one Zod,
my new one is named Loki.
-
Re: Names?
I don't actually have my snake yet, but I plan on getting it shortly :)
I'm a pretty big harry potter fan, so I've already decided to give it the name Nagini

Re: Names?
I just named mine:
Jubilee: Yellowbelly female
Delilah: Vanilla Spider Het Citrus Hypo female
Samson: Vanilla Het Citrus Hypo male
Gideon: Lesser Yellowbelly male.

Re: Names?
I'm not a namer, by nature. But one of my herp friends is.
Out of curiosity, and for those with larger collections, who has the most named snakes around here?
-
I've always loved naming things. I expect I'll always name my snakes, no matter how big my collection gets, and maybe even some of the ones I sell.
Currently I have 12 snakes total, and they all have names except for three, which we're still trying to decide on names for.
I don't have a theme, I just name them whatever strikes me. Mine are: Iris, Scarlet, Wango, Varys, Nigel, Ser Charles, Persephone, Dulche & Leche (my two Caramels).
-
I dont have a big collection but all are named.
Noodle, Peanut, Dante, Nelson, Popcorn, Kiddo, Kismet, Sushi, Pixie, Tchotchke
-
lol I have to name all my pets, even my inverts. Admittedly some of them are getting a bit less creative than they used to be (my turtle is named Turtle). But it's the only way my husband can keep straight who's who when I'm talking about them.

Re: Names?
I like naming my snakes, but now I have two that don't have names yet, a mystic female and a pied female (though in my defense, the pied hasn't been shipped yet).
The rest are named after personality or characteristics, not much of a theme.
1.0 Mojave - Seven (has a "7" on his back)
1.0 Super Pastel - Tupac Snake-ur (he's my first BP, or my BP "OG")
1.0 Black Pastel het. Pied - Vernon (named after an awesome Verizon customer service rep, believe it or not! He's my genetically most powerful male currently)
0.1 Fire - Felicia (she's a total brat. "Bye, Felicia!")
0.1 Normal - Trouser (named by a lesbian couple. I got her when they broke up and one threatened to throw her away [emoji22])
0.1 Normal - She-Hulk (the biggest in my collection so far)
I also have a couple other pets:
0.2 cats - Miso and Banzai
2.0 dogs - Jasper and Cooper (a basset/puggle mix and a pure basset hound)
0.0.1 IJ Blue tongue skink - Tiberius
-
For naming it's usually whatever strikes me.
1 eyed sunglow boa-Cy (short for Cyclops)
Okeetee Corn snake-Bison
Amel Corn Snake-Henry (Wadsworth Longfellow)
Rainbow Boa-Serenity
-
Not snakes but my leopard geckos have names from Fraggle Rock.
Right now I have Sprocket and Doozer. I hope to get more and continue the theme.

Re: Names?
My Mystic's name is Juice. She was named by my 2 year old son.
-
I don't name mine, except for one. Her name is Scream because she has a pattern on her side that looks a lot like the painting lol. She has a temper, but she's a lot of fun. ☺
-
I don't name my snakes. I track them by numbers and letters. Those tell me all their info when I look at their tub. However the wife and kids do name them. My son named the last one. He is starting to use the Five Nights at Freddy's names. Last snake was named Chica.

My whole Collection has names.
Alex
Andromeda
Anyanwu
Apophis
Basil
Chicken McNuggets
Disco
Doro
Gadnuk Breaker of Worlds
Horchata
Kastigir
Kevin
Lamashtu
Leviathan
Nebula
Nova
Pazuzu

Also milk snake named Cupcakes.
For me names are part of the fun.
If I could give names to all 649 Pokemon in the games (I DID catch them all, and had multiples, so bump that number to > 700), I feel like I can name a collection < 30 animals.
Of course...some of those names were like...Kitchen, Anvil, Oxy Clean, Belgium, Cake...but hey, at least they had names.

Re: Names?
I have two ball pythons. V is my spider morph and my little pied is named Ickus. I love naming my animals. When I kept fish they even got names! What's the harm? :)
-
I have just one guy. I named him Argus, a greek hero who was said to have eyes on the back of his head. He is named such because of his two unique little spots on the back of his head. :)
