Where do I install UTH?

Hello BP.net. I ordered an UTH. It's suppose to come in today. My question is where exactly do I install it? Inside or outside the tank? Underneath or on the side wall? I'm sorry if i sound like a noobie but it's my first reptile and I want to make sure everything is perfect. Thank you :snake:

I'd also like to add that there is 2 hiding spots in the tank. One is a tree bark which is placed in the middle of the tank and the other one is a hiding box bought at petco which is located in the corner. I've noticed that my python spends more time in the tree bark. You think if i place the UTH underneath the corner box, the python would start spending there more time?

Start first with not installing it unless you have a thermostat to regulate it.
AFTER you have a thermostat you can then install the UTH outside the enclosure under the hot side hide.
The thermostat probe will go between the mat and the bottom of the enclosure.
The UTH plugs into the thermostat and the thermostat plugs into the wall.
Adjust your thermostat to no more than 95 degrees on the inside surface above the mat.

the thermostat is coming in today with the UTH. But im not sure what do you mean by

So in between the tub and mat, so it goes tub, probe, mat.

So the probe is touching the bottom of the tub and the top of the heat mat.

Hopefully this clarifies it more for you :)

Negative. Btween the UTH and outside bottom of the enclosure.

Ugh man, Im such a noobie lol. Can i please post the picture of my tank so you guys tell me exactly where to put it? I don't get the expression 'outside bottom of the enclosure? Does it mean that i put it underneath the tank next to the mat?

Underneath the tank on top of the mat. This is for the thermostat probe.

Check out the picture because my probe looks different than the one on the picture you attached. I'm sorry if I'm being annoying. I just wanna make sure I do it right

Well since it's an under tank heater, you'll want to have it outside of the enclosure, underneath of it. And have your thermostat probe in contact with the uth. Dial in your temperatures using a temp gun or digital thermometer. The setting on the thermostat will likely need to be higher than your desired cage temps.

Regarding the hides, I would make sure to have two identical hides. One on the cool end and one on the warm end. The set up you are describing makes me think your snake will likely choose the hide that makes it feel most secure rather than the one that is at a preferred temperature.

Before you stick the mat to the bottom of the tank do yourself a favor.
Get foil tape!!
Coat the mat with foil tape sticky side to sticky side. Then you will use the foil tape to hold the edges of your mat to the bottom of the tank.
The probe will go between the mat and the glass outside the tank.
