Got my first ball python today !!!
    Hey guys and girls,

Im Phil from Austria 17 years old , I know I'm quite young but im putting all my time and passion into this. I've alway been a fan of snakes a specially the BPs so I decided to set up a tank its 100x40x50 (cm). I got it up and running last week , temp and humidity have been absolutely fine so I picket her up today :D I know the tank isn't the biggest but I'm planning on building one , I've built 2 fish tanks so I think it should go well. I joined this forum hoping that you guys could help me out with some tips and tricks. Or help if anything goes wrong. The health of my little friend is the most important thing too me so I hope I can count on your help. I've already found lots of helpful stuff so thank you very much :) I was planing on posting a few photos but I just noticed that I can't post them from my phone, I'll post them as soon as I get them on my pc !!! Thx for reeding

Welcome! I downloaded the photobucket app to my iPhone and used it to post a pic to this site. If you have a smartphone, it may be worth trying.

Hey, we all gotta start in the hobby somewhere! Welcome to the addiction lol.

A 100x40x50 cm tank is around 190 liters, yes? Which is in the range of 50 gallons (someone correct me if my math is wrong on this lol). That's plenty big for a BP. Most adults don't need anything bigger than 40 gallon, or about 150 liters. They're a ground dwelling species that like to hide in burrows and termite mounds in the wild, and aren't terribly comfortable with open spaces. I know it seems totally opposite what most people would want, right? But bigger isn't always better!

Absolutely good job getting your temps and humidity dialed in before picking up your snake though, kudos! :gj:

hey :) , yea 200 l that's 52,8 gallons but here in Austria you have to have at least 1 square meter ground and it must be over 70cm high this could be checked at random as you are obligated to inform the government. Sounds stupid but thery are very strict on keeping certain animals (reptiles, dogs, aso.) so I decided to order a custom built one that fits nicely :) it's a 170x50x70 I know that's very big but I gues I'll just have to put more plants and hides in (correct me if I'm wrong)
