Pictures of crabs

this is one of my hermit crabs, her name is snow cone (cuz her shell is white and its shaped like a cone, lol)

this is how i post my pics here..............I got to my album @ webshots and open the pic, then i click on properties and copy them, then i come back to BP.net and go to the forum i want to post it in then i click paste and then do [img]blah blah blah[/img] and then click submit, thats the right way to do it right ?? or did i make a mistake somewhere ??

Webshots seems to be a booger when it comes to linking your images to other sites. If you still have room in your gallery, it might just be easier to upload them there.

I have no idea. I never seem to have a problem with webshots not showing pictures here.

Btw, is that a new hermit crab, or one of the ones you've had for a while? (Maybe I'm getting you confused with somebody else..)

nope, ive had that little one for a long time. :)

ohh and i have no more room in my album here, i could always delete the pics i have now and add my new ones but i really dont want to do that, but if the pics dont seem to be working i guess ill have to :(

If i right click on the text that just says IMAGE, i can select the whole url of the pic and paste it into another browser. That is how i was able to see it. Otherwise it just says IMAGE.

Man, that sucks, i wish it would just show up without yall havin to do that.

All I can say is that it always shows up normally for me here. (no clicking, just open the forum and *BAM* picture). I don't know what makes it different for me. Maybe dial up versus cable?

aww. they're cute. i dont like hermit crabs, but yours are cute. :)

i got attacked by scary little black crabs when i was in SC... not really attacked, but they were scuttling over my feet and it scared the crap out of me. i didnt wanna move bcuz i was scared i'd crush one.... so they all ran over me and i thought i was gona pass out. i was like "MOMMY THE CRABS ARE GONA BITE ME!!"

Wow, thats a small hermit. The ones I remember growing up in Florida were much bigger, thier shells the size of your hand. But he is a cute lil booger.

i also have a few bigger ones but i tend to like the smaller ones/medium sized ones better.

I love crabs.......but dang, they are so addictive !! i just need to buy more and more of them !!

This is him before his last molt after that he switched to a much larger cone looking shell.

He looks like he was a good size before he died. I've never seen a hermit crab that big.

Hmm i dont know why it hasnt switched shells, maybe he just really really likes the one he is in, i have had a few crabs who havent switched shells, or has taken a very very LOOONG time for them to do so

What kind of enclosure do you have him in, if the humidity is not right then they will not molt, they need high humidity to both molt and breathe, they breathe out of gills and if it is not moist they will slowly suffocate to death

Its kinda hard to tell if its a male or female you have to see the underside of the crab when it hangs out of its shell, if it is a female there will be 2 small hole like things and if its a male, there will be no holes, the holes are used to carry eggs to the water.

How big can a hermit crab get anyway? I've always seen the little ones.

They can get to be pretty large,ive seen some the size of baseballs and even bigger.But it usually takes a real long time for them to grow.Even after a molt they dont seem any bigger.
