Uth issue

Hi
I use sterilite tubs for my snakes.
Lately two vivs have had two problems
One viv the uth adhesive is no longer sticking
Viv #2 lost its little rubber things to keep airflow and ends up making the hot spot WAY too hot
Any safe fix it ideas?

To stick it to the tank I use foil tape, for raising the tank take 4 pieces of one inch thick wood and cut it 3 inches long and place them in all 4 corners

Thanks! The wood sounds similar to setting an ant trap on tarantula enclosures.

Foil tape is always your friend.
anything can lift your tank for airflow.

My tubs are slightly recessed on the bottom and I use Flexwatt. Do you think I need to lift it further? Temps in tubs are spot on 90 over Flexwatt

Is flexwatt easier/cheaper? I've had two uths die on me this year and I want dependibility.
Don't know about lifting. I'd say yeah. Physics wise air flow is important. One of my tubs started to melt!

Would you say some good old erasers should work?

So far I find the Flexwatt much easier to work with, more even heating and easy to install

Cost efficient? These cruddy uths are not worth a spit. Even with rheostats.

I haven't had them installed long enough to tell but I'm not having to adjust temps every day

That sounds good. I am always fussing with the temp gun and substrate. I'll probably still be doing that tho [emoji14]

This is a really good reason to use a THERMOSTAT!!!
What are you using to regulate your heat source? and please don't tell me you are relying on substrate and measuring your temps off of the top of the substrate when you should be measuring from the surface your snake can burrow to.
