Cold side
My new girl Freyja decided to move in her tank for the very first time since I got her, jut concerned, it was bout 2 hours ago maybe a bit more. Its from her hot side to her coldside and hasnt gone back to get warm...maybe im being overly concerned lol...how long is normal to stay on the cold side? She has bee on the hotside for days now and is in blue and due to shed... is this why she wants to cool down? Any cool side info apreciated, ty :) havent read much info about cool side habits.

Just let het regulate her body temp. She knows when she needs more warmth. Don't get overly concerned about this. What are the conditions in the room like? How cold is the cold side vs the hot side? I've had my little guy spend several days on the cold side (I think) just because he liked the hide on that side better than the hide on the warm side. If she's in shed just make sure temps & humidity are good and she'll be fine.

Might have pooped or peed on the warm side and wants to get away from it. Check around, even under the hide.

Re: Cold side
She hasnt pooped or peed I did chec this earlier. I lifted the hide and spot checked. The cold side temp fluctuates very slightly ut stays around 77-80° and the room temp stays around 73-78°. The hot side is a straight 91°at all times regulated by a herpstat 1.
Ive been struggling with humidity, I have an exoterra but its foiled off ive been spraying to keep my humidity at 70-80, and skiploader has been super helpful in suggesting a moss hide so hes sending me pics soon. Im going to get a diy humidifier going within the next month probably fter christms is done with.
I was just concerned about her getting too cold or maybe being too fearfulto come back out and go back to her warm side since she is still adjusting?

If those are the temps then I wouldn't worry about it at all. She's just chillin  Moss hides are great for sheds. Eco Earth is an excellent substrate for humidity but you'll want to mix in a little cypress mulch on top to keep from too much humidity/mold.
I used a terrarium for several months before going to PVC. Living in Vermont it was quite the challenge keeping heat & humidity on point. However, the closest I ever came to perfect was with Eco & Cypruss with a 3/4 foiled off lid.

Re: Cold side
Ahh ok good to know, im currently using shop paper towelmas substrate for the simple fact of easy maintenence. I do like the more natural look of cypress mulch and do realise it would probably keep my humidity up but seeing is id like to lean more towards less cleaning time lol..im hoping the diy humidifier will solve that issue. If it doesnt than ill definitely go grab some cypress and try a half inch or so of that as substrate. I was just going to use the moss in my humid hide for shed phases and what not. Skiploader was saying at best to replace it every week, so thats easy enough to do. I guess im just an overly concerned mom..lol. I really really adore tgis snake, ive noticed her popping her head out of the doorway of tge hide a few times but then shyly curling back into the cold hide... im not sure if shes just too scared to come out yo get warm or what. Keep in mind...shes coming from being binned... to a glass enclosure. Ive made sure to make it as comfortable as posdible for her though.
I put dark contruction paper around all sides, well the back already had one of those thick foam backgrounds. .but the 2 other sides to the left and right I covered. So the only uncovered area is where the front doors are. At least now in her enclosure she does have 2 hides some more room to roam around and new things to explore...im hoping she likes her new place..

Don't worry about it. Most people here are the same way. I bet if you dug a few pages back you could probably still find my posts asking questions just like this.
Yes, she's just getting acclimated to the new environment. Your best bet seeing her roaming at this point is to check out the tank in the middle of the night. For a while the only time I saw my first little guy was when I got up at 2am to go to the bathroom.
Make sure she doesn't have too much room to roam around, though. This isn't written anywhere I don't think, but my general rule of thumb when they'r still hatchlings is if they can fully stretch out, there's too much space.

Re: Cold side
Well shes a 2013 so im not sure she would be considered a hatchling anymore, a juvenile? Lol. There isnt a whole lot of space left considering what ive put into the tank, branch stone, plus the 2 large hides there is a little space between the two from one side to the other, then plants on both sides for cover. But Freyja is pretty large maybe a good maybe over 2ft long.

Re: Cold side
Thanks for the hide pics...I still dont get how the snakes dont cut them selves on the plastic though?? This is how I had cut my finger when I was trying to make a hide the last time but I was cutting it out of the side of the container not the top... what did you use to cut through the top with? My snake is pretty large though I havent weighed her yet but prev. owner said shes eating sm-med. sized rats so im going to need a fairly large container if I was to make one. So I would be just removing the normal hide I would use on the hot side during blue phaseband put this humid hide there.. then once shed is done..put back the old hide I normally use right?

Re: Cold side
Good news I just noticed she was super active last night come to find out this morning there was something inside my cold hide...went to check and it was shed skin...unrolled it to check for eye caps..they were there, so it was a complete shed, plus a little gift of poop in the corner.
I took here out put her in a bin cleaned the tank but then she just went back into the cold side again. The cold side hidd is sligjtly larger than the hot sidevhide so im hoping thats not why she wants to go there... but she doescseem hungry, my rat supplier is out till sometime this week... im hoping he gets dome in soon.. but happy she had a complete shed.

Re: Cold side
I use a hole saw bit and sand the edges. Never had a snake cut itself.

Re: Cold side
Would a lighter work to soften and maybe mold edges? I wanna make one now.

Re: Cold side
Might work to smooth the edges for sure as long as the plastic didnt melt too much and blacken
