What size sterilite tub is best for ball pythons?
I am wanting to get a bp and I want to go with the tub instead. I was looking at the screened enclosures but figured that they wouldn't hold a bp. So I would like to know what size tub is best to have for a bp?

Do they have to be clear bins? or can they be colored?

Re: What size sterilite tub is best for ball pythons?
I'm in the process of designing my first rack system. I was wondering why everyone uses tubs that are only 5 or 6" high. My juvenile girl loves to climb in her glass rank which is set up with branches and stuff for her to enjoy. Other than space saving is there any reason not to use say an Iris 80 which is the same length and width as the 70 but is 13" high, allowing for some vertical furniture. Opinions?

I have one similar to that. It would not work because there are slits near the top of the tubs where a juvenile could escape.

The short answer is no. I saw a youtube video once of someone that was keeping rats in these, but I wouldn't even advise them for that. For adults, I wouldn't go smaller than a 41 qt (long and shallow) for females and 34 qt for males. For hatchlings, shoebox sized tubs seem to work well, and some of the DIY enclosures I've seen use cat litter pans for younger snakes (in a rack, as these don't come with lids). A simple setup would be to use heating tape/pads monitored by a thermostat with the tub sitting on it, but honestly I would just advise you to save up and buy/build your own complete system (I built a 7 slot adult rack for around 200 dollars all things considered). Cutting costs is all well and good, cutting corners is not.
