How much do albino pieds go for?? (not dreamsicle)
Hey there everybody. So I was looking around to stating my first breeding project and saw an albino pied on the net and was wondering how much they go for.(USA) Thank you in advance. :)

    Hi.

Being a double recessive, this being sort of a pain to breed and kind of uncommon, I feel like they're still quite pricy.

The best way to get an idea of competitive pricing on the web is to go to Kingsnake.com > classifieds > ball pythons and then run a search looking for what you want, or simply browsing big lots for sale. I find this is almost always cheaper than breeder's websites, as the price is always changing as people attempt to undercut each other. That's how I get a vague idea of pricing. However, I've found many prices at reptile shows make Kingsnake look very expensive. I'd get an idea and then shop around and look at your options, especially with a snake as expensive yet as varying in quality as any sort of pied.

Thank you and I'm going to try and get 2 pairs. A pair of het albinos and het pieds and try to hit the odds of an albino and pied. Then I'll breed those to get double hets and breed back 2 double hets to each other and hopefully hit good odds. I know that'll be a long time but I'm not really in a rush at the moment. But if I have the money I'll buy a pied and an albino to get double hets and just go from there

Definately do the pied and albino and not the hets. In my opinion. You're looking at $600-$700 probably. I'd definitely get a male pied and female albino. That's probably your cheapest option.

$600-$700 for both together right?? I imagine it would be a whole lot easier instead of buying het albinos and het pieds and not being able to reach the goal for some odd amount of years.

Yes for both I would actually get a male albino and a female pied if I was to go that route, the female Pied is more valuable as a breeder in the future.

You can probably also pick up a pair of Double Hets for $500 which will cut 18 months to 3 years out of that project, knowing that if you buy a Pied and an Albino you are looking at 3 to 6 years before producing your own Albino Pied.

    Yes, maybe $800 with shipping.

I didn't even think about double hets somehow. I was picturing a pair of albino hets and a pair of pied hets.

Deborah is right, double hets would probably be best.

Or maybe a pair of albinos both get for pied, or vice versa.

That's not too bad but I might be able to find some snakes around my area really cheap from people that are in a hurry to get rid of them due to moving/problems at home ect..

Yes that is very true about picking up the double hets but I'll figure it out when the opportunity comes :)

I actually think that'll be the route I take. Would all the normal looking hatchlings be poss. double het albino pied?? There would be a 1/16 chance I hit the albino piebald and if I do get 1 or more I'd keep back on then breed back to be of the parents depending on gender.

Correct the normal looking offsprings would be considered Possible Double Hets and you would get 1/16 chance per egg to hatch an albino Pied.

Here is another route you can take get a female double het albino pied raise her up and in a year from now by a male albino het pied, might be a little more but it will increase your odds.

I could do that and in the long run I'll be making more money than I put in and on top of that I have an amazing animal!! :)

I'm still brand new to the breeding scene but I've had ball pythons in the past and it just never crossed my mind to breeds them :p

This is exactly what I am going for now. I recently got an albino male and a pied female. I am getting them up to size so hopefully they will be breeding later this year.
