Amazing!
Tonight the craziest thing happened! I picked up a female albino BP on sunday so I've had her for all of 3 days. The breeder said that she has only eaten live but I got her to eat a f/t. I felt like all of the odds were against me and the only thing I had going for me was the fact that the last time she was weighed, she was 85 grams so I figured she's probably growing and hungry (and that the last time she ate was last tuesday). I thawed out a little fuzzy that I had, ran it under warm water to get the "freezer smell" off of it, and then dangled it. She wasn't even interested at all, so I just left it on a piece of newspaper. I came back a few hours later and it was gone!
All of the odds were against me because I feel like I've handled her a lot recently, she's in an actual tank now whereas she was in a tupperware box before, and she's just in a new place.
I just felt like I needed to share. Here's a picture of her from a few days ago:https://33.media.tumblr.com/277fc578...0dbo1_1280.jpg

She is! She's so docile and nice. She coils up in my hands and wraps herself around my fingers. I paid $200 for her, and another $70 for a 55 gallon tank, lamp, hides, plastic bin, and a heating pack with a snake bag to transport her during the 2-hour drive.

Oh wow what a great deal!! That's nice that she's a sweetheart too :) I have a girl that is as sweet as can be too. She's a big ole chunkster though lol she's never missed a meal. Hopefully your albino will be a really good eater too :D

Re: Amazing!
I hope so too. I plan on breeding her once she's up to weight. If you're interested in a male albino, check out Deb's Exotics on facebook. She has the male for sale as well (You can check out NH craigslist as well)

Congrats on the success Reed. And I know you've probably gotten this constantly but that is a gorgeous snake; I love albino's and her color variance is stunning. She is going to be so pretty as she grows. Is that the one you had in the lower tank that I was interested in seeing?

Yes it is! I feel so blessed to have such a pretty girl. Next on the list is a pied. The breeder I got Cleo from had a female Pied for $500 and she said that I would be able to put her on lay-away if I wanted. She was so pretty and it was my first time seeing a pied in real life. It was like I was looking at the holy grail.

Haha I know what you mean. Getting a Pied is my dream snake. Whether I get it from a het breed or just break down and buy one. However I recently learned about the existence of the Bels morph and it definitely got added to the list. However I think a pastel pied or a ghost pied is still my number one eventual desire.

my number 1 desire is something that is loosely referred to as a "pumpkin pied" where the one of the splotches of color looks like a jack-o-lantern. My birthday is on Halloween so that would be my ULTIMATE snake. http://gallery.kingsnake.com/data/90...pyFace-med.jpg

Re: Amazing!
My albino was a food hog too. She ate right after I picked her up from the breeder. She ate a f/t with no problems even though she was fed live only. Few 100 grams per month for 10 month s!

Well I may have spoken too soon. I tried to feed her twice this week and she hasn't had any interest in the mice. I mean I am giving her a mite treatment, but I gave both of my snakes mite treatments and my guy is being a pig. I fed him last night, and this morning my curiosity piqued when I saw the mouse still sitting in my albino's tank. I grabbed the mouse, ran it under warm water again and fed it to my guy to see if he'd eat it, and he did.
This raises 2 questions: Should I be feeding Akeda more since he ate twice in one day? He ate a full size mouse and then a really small fuzzy roughly 8 hours later.
Cleo hasn't eaten in 10 days at this point, which I'm not really worried about, but according to the standards that I've seen on here she looks a little underfed. How long should I wait to assist feed her?

You can wait a long time before assist feeding. How much does your snake weigh? A good rule of thumb is to feed 10-15% of their body weight

A meal that is 14~ grams would be perfect. I would leave her alone for a week and try again later

I agree with this. Giving her the mite treatment may have stressed her out a bit so she didn't feel like eating. The same has happened my my normal Levi. I put mixed his substrate with coco husk to raise the humidity since it's so dry due to the cold and that slight change stressed him and now he's refusing which is fine in his case since he had plenty of weight to spare lol. But don't worry. Just give her more time and she will come around [emoji4]
