opinions?

So today and last week Layla my bp has eaten for me but the three weeks before that she didn't. Last week and today i tried putting the mouse in chicken broth trick and it seemed to work out. My ? is should i try without the broth again or just keep using the broth. And one more thing for those who feed in a separate cage how do you put your bp back in her/him cage after feeding? Fyi I don't do things because of the feeding response. More about her Iingesting the bedding. I know a little won't hurt her but a lot will and I just don't want to risk it. So opinions will be very nice. Thanks

Well since you asked for opinions...There is no need to feed your snake in a separate enclosure, and no you don't have to use the broth every time. If they eat without it fine, but if they don't you may have to resort back to the broth, but try without, and see what happens.:gj:

Do certain breeds get aggressive from feeding in enclosures or is it just a mistruth that has been spread. Getting some snakes soon and was wondering if a feeding box is necessary or not. I think not right. No way do people with large volumes of snakes move them every time.

My opinion is feed it in its enclosure and don't use broth.

Feeding in a separate enclosure to prevent aggression is a myth promoted by pet shops who want to sell an extra tank and unnecessary supplies!!!

You could try putting a flat piece of stone in the enclosure and feeding over that?

But if the mouse is dry when offered you don't normally get too much substrate sticking to it most of the time.

If you do decide to feed outside the tank, which I do all the time (makes changing water and spot cleaning easier), I give them a few minutes after downing the rat then pick them up and place them right back in their tub. Never had any problems doing it this way.

Like everyone is say, don't feed in separate enclosure. No need to add the extra stress. As for using broth or not, I assume at some point you will want to not have to do it. So why not offer without, if she eats then great. If not then you can always try again with the broth.

For those how keep saying about feeding in a separate encloser it isn't about the aggression. It's about the bedding getting on the mouse. I feed her mice that are wet so I know then she is getting water in her. I wanted to know how people that feed in a separate encloser how the put there bp back in. I was afraid the touching her might make her regurgitate her food if I touched her after feeding. So I just put her feeding enclosure in her main enclosure and waited for her to climb out back into her main one. Just thinking there had to be an easier way of doing it. Please don't come responded saying to feed in her main enclosure cause i refuse to do that. No offence to those who do. I just don't want to. She does great in the other enclosure. And it gives me the enclosure that she did eat it without looking around to find out if she has eaten or not this way I know for sure.

I will wait about 10 min then gently scoop up the snake and put her back. I haven't been regurgitated on yet.

Just an fyi, if they've got a water bowl that is kept full, the snakes do drink when they're thirsty.

We feed in tank, simply for the fact that the one time we tried the feeder box, he regurgitated his food. I'm sure it's because of the amount of people we have living in our house, and the fact that it's an old house. We feed live, and use tongs to hold the mouse (so substrate doesn't get into his mouth). We've tried feeding F/T, and he won't take it. He was a rescue, and I'm almost 100% certain he's eaten live his whole life, and he won't eat anything else. I suggest using tongs to reduce the amount of substrate that gets into your BP's mouth.

Well I'm torn on the issue of feeding in a box vs feeding in the tank. It's always good to have a separate box so that if you need to clean the tank, you have the ability to put the snake in something so it won't get out. I've had my snake eat in a separate enclosure and in the tank and so far there isn't really a difference other than ingesting a little substrate.
