Ok I'm HOOKED!!!

So I got Striker about 2-3 weeks ago. It has been very challenging, but who doesn't love a challenge?! I have spent way too much money! Fought with temps and humidity (which I'm still doing), hides and substrates. But through it all, every time he pops his head out from his hide to see what I'm doing, or when I'm holding him and he stretches out as far as he can just to get to my face like he wants to kiss me, or crawls up my arm to my neck a wraps around it and just chills, it makes it all 110% WORTH IT!! I'm excited to get a room cleaned out so I can start getting many more to add to my family! This hobby is like a drug. I would spend my last $10 to get something to make his house just a little bit better and make him even more of a happy camper! And btw, this forum kicks ass!! I don't think I could have got this far without it and the ones who have helped by answering my questions. Thank you again!!

I am Paul. I am a ball python addict. I had kicked the habit for 5 or 6 years. Then I got married and my wife said she had never seen a chameleon. I took her into a reptile shop to show her one. Now I have had a total relapse and own 2 bp with another on the way soon..

I feel the exact same way. I know I want a few more, but my main goal is to make Oliver happy. It is a challenge to get everything right, but I like the challenge. Striker looks like a doll and he sounds so nice. I'm looking forward to seeing more pics of this good looking boy.

Congratulations! He is beautiful and what a great set-up. :) These little guys really are addictive, but I have no complaints. They can be a bit of a learning curve but isn't it a great feeling when it starts to click and you can look back and see how much you have learned about their care and behavior? I just can't get enough information these days, and every time I learn anything new my poor family, friends, and co-workers have to hear all about it. It is really a good thing that there are forums like this one to share your excitement with others who get it. I am always a bit disappointed when other people I talk to aren't nearly as excited as I am about it lol, but I can always come on here and feel right at home.

It really is amazing how quickly these little guys can hook you. Most people wouldn't expect a snake to be very expressive or have much of a personality but for me it was like I was hit by a truck the first time I held one. I went from ten years of assuming I was too squeamish to feed them rodents and never really seriously considering it to owning one in a matter of days. I had only asked to hold one at the pet store so a friend, who I had been hyping up bps to as an example of how sweet a snake can be, could hopefully see in them what I saw in them. At the time I had never handled one before and I swear the instant that little guy was coiled up in my palm a switch in my brain flicked. The whole drive home I kept telling my husband we needed to get one. He didn't take me seriously, and honestly I didn't take myself seriously at the time, but the next day I found myself researching prices and breeders (just innocent research, I swear!). The following morning I emailed one of the breeders and my little guy was on hold that afternoon. The feeding thing is so not an issue anymore, I joke with my husband now that I would feed Shesha nuns if that was what it took to keep him. :P
